    Thank you for the reminder to read that book, I read Accelerando a few months ago and ended up on a William Gibson binge after which had yet to return me to this section of my book shelf.

    This is exactly why I dislike the slow mainstreaming of geek and to a lesser extent gamer culture. The Big Bang Theory, Numb3rs, and the other terrible shows milking geek culture have really proven to be absolute garbage.

    Canadian here, I'm frequently embarrassed for my coworkers and family as they can't seem to keep up to date on anything but American Idol. Honestly, I get more engaging conversation in a taxi.

    Homer is generally used to poke fun of this, but I agree that the bumbling male lead has gotten old. I'll throw in my two cents and state that it's typically demonstrating a situation where the stupid oaf is essentially mothered by a beautiful, intelligent and strong female lead. Feminism, har.

    Yeah really here in northern Canada I can either get a broomstick up the ass from Bell, or pay even more for satellite. I have nothing for contempt for Bell, and can't recall ever hearing a kind word about the company even from its employees.
