    We can just release a new kernel every 2 weeks and spend all our time adding features! :0

    Crafted IPv6 packet vulnerability.

    So what, there are like 6 people affected by this?

    Only thing IPv6 has done for me lately is bite me in the ass.

    Apache 2 + Solaris 8 + IPv6 in Apache by default + IPv6 in OS by default + IPv6 not configured by default = many erros about being unable to contact listener.

    Ironically, I'm an IPv6 supporter but it seems no major ISP will even route those packets.

    So if Al Qaeda or whoever wanted to do an exploit, they'd have to get physically on your network, it which case they could just shoot you or bomb you or something.

    It may not look like it from the outside, but I would suspect that the majority of lawmakers still attempt to cling to the ideals they started with and, when given the opportunity, will attempt to act according to them.

    Sometimes they are te most dangerous of all.

    Those doing what they are doing "for morality" or "for the children" or "for our own good" can do the most harm.

    Think of the War on Drugs. Thing of Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein.

    Does that stuff actually work. Yeah, Google for "dim mak" or "kyusho" - I have but I'm not sure I can believe it.

    As for atomic bombs, the information that is out there is one thing, but giving out hugely detailed specs so Al Qaeda could level our cities is quite another.

    The kind of info the Federal government publishes on their own websites is quite scary though.

    Couldn't you lose the "feature" where the printer damages itself?

    If you stopped the counterfeiting attempt, no need to do anything else.

    And what about false positives, people trying to use that "feature" to break a copy shop's printer, etc?

    Even if the gov't asked or ordered that you stop the copy attempt, it is a bit much for them to ask or order you to act as judge, jury, and executioner in requiring the printer to damage itself.

    Anyone know the secret codes to unbreak the printers.

    Post them here.

    The only ones that should be able to order a printer destroyed is a COURT, after a TRIAL.

    Not any other way.

    How did we evolve and the universe come into being in violation of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics?

    What (or who) created the original Order in the universe?

    Umm, if there is no redistribution prohibition, does it really matter if non-US people can get it using the FOIA?

    When all it would take is *ONE* willing US citizen to get it and redistribute it.

    Which has apparently happened, and was not considered a problem.

    Also, the French wouldn't use it even if we gave it to them on a silver platter - the leadership there doesn't like anything American very much.

    X is adding eye candy while switching to text mode virtual consoles causes system hangs (computer ignores network, panic=3 doesn't reboot, likely the hardware has been wedged or the kernel is halted with IRQs disabled or something equally lethal).

    But, heck, with new acceleration features it will crash faster and look pretty doing so!

    I am a legit customer of Wells Fargo, and all their emails say to visit their web site instead of providing links.

    It seems they want people in the habit of going to the web site instead of following links - thus fake emails with fake links won't work (one hopes, but many people, even with online banking, are clueless t00ls).

    Even if the bug is a critical and the new feature is fluff.

    Like if your X server crashes the whole PC, we add eye candy first, bug fix later (if at all).
