You know, I was so disappointed with Fallout 3, that I said I would never buy another Bethesda game immediately after release; I would wait until it had been patched. But when I heard that New Vegas used the Fallout 3 engine, I figured I'd buy the game at release. Surely, they would have fixed the bugs in this new release!

That's what I get for having faith in humanity.

Get some of the DLCs for Fallout 3, and then you'll see some serious bugs. Heck, the "Broken Steel" quest can't even be completed on my PS3 because the game freezes so much.

The PS3 version of New Vegas is pretty freaking bad. There are several areas I can't even walk into because a bunch of strange polygons fill up the screen and make it so I can't even figure out where I'm going.

OTOH, I have been known to leave 30% tips for absolutely stellar service.

  16. Commander Shepherd WON'T BE IN THE MOVIE on Mass Effect To Invade the Big Screen · · Score: 1

People, stop whining that the movie will suck because the Commander Shepherd on the silver screen won't be your Commander Shepherd from the games. Shepherd has not appeared in any of the Mass Effect comics or novels for this very reason. Most likely the movie will not have Shepherd in it, either. It will be a separate story set in the Mass Effect universe.

  17. Re:Can it wait? on Mass Effect To Invade the Big Screen · · Score: 1

That is of course assuming they choose a male for the lead. It seems a little difficult because some of us may have associated Shepard with a female character. Others may have chosen a male. It's tough when you have characters that aren't clearly defined in the game, especially customizable ones.

That is, of course, assuming that Commander Shepherd is even in the film. Commander Shepherd has not appeared in either the comics or the novels for this very reason.

Over the life of my PS3, updates have commonly caused severe issues. I've had to reformat the hard drive several times and I even had to send it in to be "repaired" after updating. Sony really needs to work on not breaking their own system.

I have owned a PS3 for years and have never once had a problem with their updates.

  22. Re:HOAs may be evil, but she agreed to it on Homeowner Association Blocks Guests When Fees Go Unpaid · · Score: 1

HOAs don't supply any service. You plow your own driveway and mow your own lawn. HOAs just tell you what you can't do, like you can't have a pink mailbox because it looks like ass and lowers everyone else's property value because they live too close to a house with an ugly pink mailbox.

My HOA plows the court, mows my lawn, tends the shrubbery, etc. They have no real rules that I know of, other than not painting your house pink and such.

I realize this is the exception rather than the rule.

  23. Re:Wait, what? on Filming For The Hobbit Begins In July · · Score: 1

I know that there is a lot going on during those 60 years, but none of it involves any hobbits. In fact, all the stuff that's happening is centered around Aragorn growing up and going to war, Sauron regaining his power in Mordor, after having been tossed out of Mirkwood, and Elrond's sons searching for their mother. These are unrelated story lines that are too short to constitute a movie independently.

If there is going to be another movie based on Tolkien's Middle-Earth, it should be drawn from the Silmarillion. That's full of awesomeness, that is otherwise written very confusingly (and blandly). The Silmarillion would benefit greatly from a movie adaptation of even one story arc mentioned in there.

Right you are. I fear that this sequel will be another Phantom Menace--long on cheesy special effects and disturbingly short on plot. Think about it. There was no plot in The Phantom Menace. There was no build-up, no crisis, no climax, no denouement or any sort of resolution at all. I can see the same thing happening in this movie that takes place between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
