Kinect may offer you a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style narrative in which you speak commands or give orders to an ad as it's playing to change the final outcome.
I'm thinking skip or some variation of f-word will be the more common commands issued when ads appear.
Though if you are de/accelerating the whole time, 50/50, then you'll only be hitting the peak speed near the middle part of the journey.
I would assume that the switchover point would not be at the 50/50 point of the voyage. Presumably you are losing mass (fuel) enroute, and therefore could hit the brakes a little past the 50/50 point.
Anyone have an estimate of how much energy it takes to produce and transport 17,000 pounds of lithium ion batteries?
Is this really an efficient solar use compared to, say, sail?
Moving heavy loads by sea is very efficient. You don't see "container-planes" for a reason. The buoyancy from the displaced water does the lifting, you just move it.
They are. Why else are they recording everything you do?
Remember, Snowden has committed "treason." Treason means he gave aid and comfort to an enemy of The United States. The jihadists already knew they were being watched. Only the American people didn't. What enemy, exactly, did he give aid and comfort to?
While it is good that MS is not hiding this defective by design crap from people, like a "Known to cause cancer" label on cigarettes, sadly it will not make much difference.
legalize the use of malware in order to punish people believed to be copying illegally
That would be a joy.
I have already been hit with FALSE POSITIVES in the past. I had a game (Knights of the Old Republic, if I recall correctly) stop working and tell me it was because of Daemon Tools on my computer.
Point 1. None of their business what other software I am using.
Point 2. I had never even heard of Daemon Tools at the time, and it was not on my computer.
This was one of a few incidents I have had over the years with stuff that is "defective by design".
If this was legalized, they should expect the same in return.
Also they should have to pay for compute time on my hardware, and for space on my hard drive, and bandwidth on my internet.
There is no quick fix. Patching one hole in a boat that leaks everywhere is not going to keep it from sinking.
Yes, much better not to patch any holes at all, and let the boat sink, than to risk patching a hole that wasn't leaking. Hell, maybe we should drill a few more holes, just to be sure.
There are meaningful benefits from these pesticides to farmers and to consumers, as well as for affordable food.
There are meaningful benefits from these bees to farmers and to consumers, as well as for affordable food.'
There, fixed that for you.
I think it would be better to be condemned for doing something and failing, than to be be damned for standing back and watching it happen.
Chinese hackers have infiltrated a sensitive U.S. Army database that contains information about the vulnerabilities of thousands of dams located throughout the United States. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers'...
...got an immediate increase in budget, nothing was done to fix the vulnerabilites, and SOPA, CISPA, TPP, and a bunch of other crap got turned into law.

Here we go again... and cars are used for getaways from bank robberies. So get rid of cars. Knives are used to stab people. Bats are used to bludgeon people. You can't just go around banning everything that someone uses to commit a crime.
How would you feel if your neighbor went over and bought a commercial observation drone that they can launch from their backyard. It just flies over your house all day. How would you feel about it?
Just like looking at a toddler with a pee soaked diaper thinking the kid can make this diaper last a bit longer because it still works. While partly true, the kid is mainly hanging on to this one because the only new diaper comes pre-loaded with shit.
Rupert Murdoch Wants To Destroy Australia's National Broadband Network
Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

intelligence from the Internet.
If I was looking for intelligence, the internet is the last place I would look.

I'm going to assume a lot of us thought of Futurama when we read (skimmed) that article summary.
... what is everyone talking about that is so important for government to know about?
They want to know where to get cheap Viagra!

The American people. Duh!
They only committed rape... what's the big deal?? Now if the charge was "Rape... with a computer", well then they'd be in serious trouble.

Which is why they don't want you to sell or even loan them to anyone else. It would mess up the database they have on you.

I would feel like my neighbour was Google.

Curiosity: In what context is it a unit of time?
In the context of morons who don't understand basic (interstellar) units of measurement.
