    there are many elements to this problem

    o when a user points their mail client at the server do you want one address ?

    if yes
    then you want to invest in equipment/software load balance the IMAP/POP3/HTTP sessions across mail servers And shared require all serve out same same client data
    and
    you want several/all mail servers to be able serve out all the accounts then you want a shared stroage backend
    (either file system OR database wise)
    else
    simple option many mail servers all acting exactly the same with exactly the same config only differant servers used by differant clients and maybe a backup
    lotus notes has had options like this for a while so has exchange to a lesser degree these solutions base it around IMAP/POP3 multiplexing but exchange and notes Aggregate as well if needed

    if you want THE unix mailserver talk to Sun and their IMAP (java mail server system or whatever they are calling it now...) works

    plain and simple buy an unlocked gsm phone and buy a sim card

    dont put up with suppliers that will not allow you to run your app's you should at least be able to download your app to the phone via a usb cable

    the location and photo API's do seem very fun I have not tried them out and wonder how much is cross platform...

    there are many ways of doing what you want

    you can use webserver with a web calendar or various custom applications depending on how you work

    Or

    You could use Kerio Mail server this allows multiple people access to a calendar i.e. a shared calendar for the web and Microsoft Outlook

    security ? - OpenBSD / NetBSD / Linux

    performance ? - MS Windows 2003 / Linux / FreeBSD
    (windows has been showen to support very nice acceleration card NAPI on linux has been showen 2.6 kernel slower than 2.4 at the recent kernel summit and freeBSD is still up there on exsisting hardware the rewrite is about supporting new models )

    Portability ? NetBSD / Linux / OpenBSD

    why are they intrested in rss ?
    because they want to subscribe to events...

    people create a ical file and stick it on webDAV that way you can tell if it has changed with a http method

    and yes you can use RDF but then half the readers (rss reader / ical from outlook) dont know about that and wont anytime soon (while all os's apple and MS can read webDAV )

    really what they need is a good ical client and hopefully thunderbird / sunbird can do this and accept meetings / book resources whatever...

    oh what a world we live in

    apple wrote a sync engine named isync that works...
    it is a syncML server and has proved thats what you need
    (palm has a known way of sync and very much just for palmOS so target phones then palm not the other way round)

    for standards please please
    The standards that need to be addressed are RFC 2445 (iCalendar), RFC 2446 (iTIP), and RFC 2447 (iMIP)

    read and make sure you can work with Evolution and lotus notes

    NetApp is number four in storage revenue terms, after EMC, HP and IBM

    so go ask them about what you want

    really you can admin your white box's (that become a NAS ) or you can get a NAS

    are you thinking SAN ?

    also talk to Apple they do some nice product as well as SUN

    whats this for large data ?
    video data go talk to SGI and their XFS products

    really it depends on what your doing NetApp is great for company File system of documents but Bad if you want to get the most out of your storeage and you do mostly video/music dont care about snapshots etc....

    people will just use the access points around...

    come on anyone who buys a router now gets wifi on it and they leave it open OR you just discover the keys and break in (yeah it takes a while but thats life)

    realistically wifi is here to stay and its kind of free (to those in the know)

    most of the students I know dont pay they just leach of others bandwidth or plug into uni...

    its just a negotiating tactic

    licence your stuff to us and make a bit of money or we will kill your income stream with a new file format killing your PDF RIP & Acrobat

    (intresting thing is Acrobat sales account for nearly as much as the whole "creative suite" photoshop et al )

    MS are completly unable to produce a decent PDF RIP for windows !

    MS want to write PDF's and have been in talks for a year now with adobe I guess it a new level in those "talks"

    MS thinks that printer Manufacture's are going to incorperate this and not pay adobe for their RIP and yeah its possible that some low end might do it just witness HP and their printing comunication but HP size & time doing this plus where do they make money...

    MS would have to provide these manufacturer's with the software as they are not good at this so MS will do a referance implmentation and those are always great...

    welcome Microsoft to the printing world where they are Big Boys
    sales are slow
    they make alot of money off customer support...

    HP phones are good but they are VERY expensive

    its a no brainer for dell as intel provides the hardware and MS the OS

    its what all the support + blackberry people want as you can actually get decent applications written for them

    dont cripple them dell allow any sim card to be put in and they will sell by the bucket load

    bluetooth (for headphones) and wifi(for corp data) a must

    I hope they come to the UK market

    (I know, I know humans make mistakes and discover bugs )

    but hey just try building all my modules into a static kernel and it fails (cxx drivers)

    basically hardware manufacturers would love to send their bits to a place to get a stamp on it thats what they should do

    get a logo

    e.g. drivers for linux

    if your hardware works and passes the automagic tests on linux then you get to put that logo on your product

    ever seen someone use a laptop ?

    these things are EMF monsters
    compared this to bluetooth which is pretty low grade and moves freq's

    ok look at what airlines do... switch everthing off at takeoff and landing

    thats the time to switch off otherwise if they let you use a laptop then just use it...

    personally use the time for downtime and read somthing good like

    yep I think its wrong in a couple of places for sure

    as any good web dev should know the list of keyword color names is: aqua, black, blue, fuchsia, gray, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, purple, red, silver, teal, white, and yellow.

    if you want a rgb colour (I use english from england ) then color: rgb(255,0,0)

    also the error

    Line: 102 Context : Invalid number : width only 0 can be a length. You must put an unit after your number

    length : Specifies a fixed width.
    percentage : Specifies a percentage width. The percentage is calculated with respect to the width of the generated box's containing block.
    auto : The width depends on the values of other properties.

    Negative values for 'width' are illegal.

    For example width: 200px
