    Not meaning to be Clintonesq, but what is yours? In High School, they had a PDP 11/34 under RSTS/E, that I used and had more control of than the teachers and the sysadmin. But, I didn't buy a computer until 1982 -- an Apple ][+ clone with 256k of ram, 6mhz z80b, and a 5 diskette 6mb disk pack.

    But, it is the start of the story. If the CDA was the end, then you would not have had CARAFANO v. MetroSplash 339 F.3d 1119. Which held that a matchmaking service was protected. This cited Gentry v. eBay, Inc., 99 Cal. App. 4th 816, 121 Cal.Rptr.2d 703 (Cal. Ct. App. 2002) which said that the Ebay's customer ratings were protected under the CDA.

    I have a friend who is a 1st year law student. He took an unpaid summer internship at the FTC -- helping them go after spammers. I had opposing counsel (representing a spammer) leave private practice and become a a prosecutor. He enjoys putting bad guys away, even though it is less money.

    Craigslist has been charging for job posts for a while. It is true that it has not charged for realestate listings before, but it is not a new thing for them to charge for ANY listing.

    How do you know if they are delivering the bandwidth promised? If you call and complain that you are getting low bandwidth, they will claim the following:

    1. We can't control the internet, we only control our network.
    2. It must be your equiptment.
    3. It is network overhead.

    How can you tell if the slowness is a result of prioritizing packets from a service giving a kickback \b\b\b\b\b\b\b payments for that priority?

    I had my DSL at only 3mb down. They made many claims about distance problems, noise etc. When I started losing connectivity, it turned out to be a line problem -- once fixed, I started getting 5mb down.

    No, before computers could talk to each other. How many of used the INIT program RSTS/E to log into a priveleged account, so that you can change the MONEY program to treat your account as privileged and then changed the protection code to 232?

    The difference is one is done for the fun and challenge -- hobby, and the bad form is do to harm or make a profit.

    My main internet machine is running OS/2 anf for e-mail I run Post Road Mailer. I doubt many people write OS/2 virii, and it is more difficult to write and a Windows virus. Post Road mailer is more secure because it does not automatically render html or run attachments.

    My OS/2 box laughs at your virus!

    Kremen's attorney, Timoth Dillon, is opposing me in a case I have against a porn spammer. The sex.com case (Kremen v. Cohen) established that a domain name is property, or at least in California. But, Tim has tracked down some of his money and Cohen is currently sitting in jail claiming that he "doesn't have the money to buy toilet paper to wipe his ass."

    Good enough to run once is not good enough. Why do you think why many software packages out there suck? They write it good enough for the intended use. They don't write it to be solid.

    Outsourcing your homework is good experience for middle management. That way, when they get their job, they have experience in outsourcing programming and getting poor quality code back.

    There was a case in Texas, where building codes were copyrighted. In Veeck v. Southern Building Code Congress Int'l Inc., No. 99-40632 (5th Cir. 2002) the 5th circuit found that once the law was enacted, that the law once enacted became public domain.


    Or it took an appeals court to rule that a cow is not a motor vehicle.
