Maybe companies should focus less on loud, bandwidth-hogging, un-mutable videos, pop-overs, pop-unders, anything Flash, and focus on making stuff people want to buy.
The problem with this idea is that advertising companies don't actually make anything.
Over the years I've adopted a few rules dealing with 3rd party recruiters:
* No fishing. If you don't have an actual job to talk to me about I've got better things to do
* It's my job search. I don't need you to manage my job search. I'm not going to tell you everywhere I've applied already.
* No meet 'n greet's. We can have face-time after you've secured me an interview
* 10 minute rule. Without an actual job description from your client(s) everything we need to discuss can be done in 10 minutes.
Why do the Japanese have more faith in American manufacturing than the "American" car companies?
It's because of Japanese Engineering. They've got their procedures perfected, and it's cheaper (tariffs have already been noted) to do the engineering in Japan and the manufacturing in the USA.
Allow visitors to pay some (reasonably small) sum to get rid of advertisements.
The first year I paid for a Pandora subscription my music listening experience changed. I hadn't even realized how much interruption I was really getting until it wasn't there. Now I recommend it to everyone I know who uses their service.
Someone mentioned the Catwalk, so I was thinking "Ahh, the 90's in Seattle...I remember them well." It amount to the same comment as yours, I think.

As a driver I've many times let someone "steal" my right of way since that seemed preferable to being in an accident
I do something similar but different. I sometimes let someone "steal" 45% of my right of way, since that way they will see just how bad of an accident they would have been in if I hadn't actually slammed into the side of their car when it was in front of my big-ass truck.

This messages reads like a cross between a Terry Pratchett and a Wheel of Time novel. Am I the only one with this problem?

There's about 20 pages worth of evidence, with email and telephone conversations quoted. This will be a big case. It looks like Steve Jobs and the publishing companies' CEOs were personally involved in the conspiracy.
Like we need another reason for people to want to dig Steve up and put him in front of people to speak.

So you're saying "Payola" is the reason for the adjustment?
I can believe that.
And if they lose the appeal, they just lay off 5000 workers to keep the current bonus levels even. n2ch

As for the wife, if she isn't passed out drunk, she will never get her fat ass off the couch long enough to make dinner.
You say that like having the wife passed out on the couch is a bad thing...I'm just sayin'.

Why is the Management Server software as crap as it is?
Maybe they want the children to get used to being felt up, er... I mean "patted down"?

This is /. after all.
I was thinking Stephen Donaldson as well, but I was thinking "The Gap Cycle". It's more of a science fiction series than T.C. n2ch
How come this story doesn't have a "whatcouldpossiblygowrong" tag?
You need to go back to a time before there was the term meme, or the internet for that matter.
This is funny shit, but I'd mod this fucking Insightful.
You don't need an air horn. You can easily substitute that can of compressed air sitting on your shelf. n2ch

Don't you Americans have better things to waste your time with?
It is obvious that some of us don't.
A 2nd for this recommendation.
