Executives make decisions...do you plan on having a vote for the 1000-2000 decisions made per episode on a regular television show? Trust me, the amount paid to executives pales in comparison to the budget of a show. Let's say there's a $250,000 per episode budget, with another 250,000 for marketing. Out of that 500,000, about 25,000 goes to executives. The rest goes to the creative team, writers, actors, crew, equipment, film, postproduction (editing, FX dept, sound, and medium transfer, amongst other things) and distribution. Good thing you saved that 25 grand though, now there's just the other 475,000 to raise.
I was worried that this was going to be another story about peopel cramming shit into a Mac Mini Case. Not because I think they're desecrating the mini, just because if it becomes a trend, it's an incredibly boring trend to read about.
Yeah, the cell phone providers will let that happen. The whole reason they can have you by the balls (service contract) is that you're getting a discount on the phone, tske that away and their left with actually having to provide decent service and features instead of pushing to sign new customers into a 2 year agreement.
I'm not sure how to think about this. To be fair, I use both quite extensively, and I love the Google search toolbar in Firefox, but I can't help wonder about any conflicts of interest that may arise...
I trust both companies...but have learned that in computer technology, trust can only be trusted so far...
This is exactly what I've been looking for. I spend most of my iPodding time in my car. This way, my iPod spends it's time safely in my glove box and I can just use the remote to scroll through the songs.
Wait, I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons I installed Firefox and Adblock was to get rid of ads...yet they still seem to find a way to my browser...
If you replace "malaria" with "west nile" then I have all that right here in LA. The water tastes like shit and by all accounts can make you very sick (bottle water isn't just a fad, it's a necessity here), hocking loogies, ditto. Airpollution? Two weeks ago there was less than a quarter mile visibility in downtown. Welcome to progress, don't let the nationalism (either one) hit you on the ass on your way down.
What will my car run on? More specofically, since electric cars don't cut it for long distances, what will the big rigs that hold most of my food and goods run on?
What is the sound of a million blinded Canadians blinking?

Apple Announces New iBooks
·
· Score: 5, Informative
a a recently graduated film student, I can attest that the Powerbook is the way to go. Much faster, more robust, larger screen area, and the ability to have monitor spanning really make the Powerbook the way to go. I've seen and used both in action, and while the iBook functions for stuff like iMovie, When you get into Final Cut Pro, Motion, After Effects, and Photoshop (all needed in film school) the Powerbook really is the only useable solution. Editing a movie on Final Cut Pro on an iBook is an exercise in tedium and patience.
Well on a personal level, I make lots of calls to New York and Chicago, and on a business level, I make nearly all my calls to New York, Chicago, Philly, Miami, etc.
It would be great for me if they just integrated it into my cell phone that I have to pay nearly a hundred bucks a month to use.
I'm not sure i'm the majority, but I'm really only going to care when they're making these services available in a handset that works not just inside my home, but outside in the rest of the world too. Fancy home calling services are nice and all, but I'm frankly not there that often, I need these fancy services (and higher calling quality) on the phone that sits on my hip all day wherever I go.
Mark told those in attendance what Lucas told him the third trilogy would be about. How Long ago did Lucas tell Mark Hamill about this, was this sometime back when they were originally filming?
They're stopping all funding of the Voyager probes as well:a .html

Good. Infinite billions for a war, but 4.2 Million a year is too much for science....really shows the priorities here...
We have to go...outside to do these projects?
Aren't there bears "Outside?"
...for thinking that $20,000 per Kilogram is insanely expensive for a craft built to haul 10,000 Kilograms?

...Who has creative control?
More chefs does not a better stew make.
You don't deserve the +5 Insightful that you received at the time of my posting.
Don't blame me, I just wrote it. *shrug*

I'm of the mind that if it affects me in any way, I should have the right to reviewmy government's decisions.
And we're in a deficit? Go figure...

the human population is 6 billion actually...
Like most other /.ers, I'll only be interested if you can get the turbine to run linux.

Yeah, but it tends to make things blurry. Deinterlacing video is never good for quality.
1080i and 1080p are distinctly different. And I saw no mention in the article about 720p.
