    Oh but their tech support reps were guru's. Of course they had to be to deal with the many problems a Packard Hell could have. My fav that I had to try to trouble-shoot, while working tech support at AOL, is still the combo sound card and modem that had a conflict with itself.

    oooh, i had that one. when it played a sound the modem would intermittently hang up. great fun when you're trying to stream audio over a sub-56k dialup connection. never managed to sort it out.

    I saw a show on Discovery where anti-whaling activists did exactly this. They basically had a cannon that shot buckets of butryic acid onto the deck of the whaling ship. Butyric acid smells almost exactly like vomit, and the smell sticks :)

    including directly with one of the companies mentioned (i work dealer support for a large OEM) and most of them are plebians, with no knowledge and very little love or enjoyment of their jobs. what's crazy is that if you *want* them to do this (i.e. data rescue), i've seen PC world quote GBP600 for a simple slaving of the drive to another machine.

    there's already been quite a bit of discussion on wiki regarding whether it's okay to use WA as a source, and the general consensus seems to be that it isn't.
