    I think if Blackberry wants to survive they should look to the thinkpad model, where the laptop was perceived as a piece of 'corporate warrior' kit. I think their inroads into the consumer market are dead ends....

    I wonder if they factored handedness into this- I am right handed and my right hand is measurably stronger and larger than the right- I wouldn't be surprised if my right hip was a little stronger too.

    Probably the only area /. might be able to help them would be in something to do with data mining or computer visualization... the meatspace gadgets used for finding meteorites run pretty deep.

    Corn isn't used the way you are saying- it is made into something called 'silage' which is made from the entire plant and allowed to ferment. Farmers have been doing this for years and IIRC doesn't harm the animals.

    I bet a human with no experience in wines could easily tell red wine and sake apart- their odor is completely different. One is made from grapes and the other made from rice!
    Yes, I would be impressed if the mice could differentiate between two competing brands, say a Merlot from competing wineries...

    No, the theory is correct, but they aren't doing a direct observation... they are covering the target with little spheres that are in direct contact and then observing the light that comes out of the little spheres- no rules about our understanding of diffraction limits are broken.

    The important thing though is that the man's body absorbed the shock-wave and the explosion caused little or no damage to those around him, so it appears to not even be a viable technique.

    Of course I believe all people should have the opportunity to be educated to their capability, but diluting secondary schools and universities with degrees that anyone can get (and go into non dischargeable debt) is counterproductive.
