    I kind of get how tv medium works because of it's passive nature, and users are trained to put up with ads. But youtube it is a 'pull' medium and more often than not the ads are often jarring and/or ironic. For instance, I might be looking for a classical performance and an ad comes up with some kind of awful background pop music- and I make a conscious decision to hate whatever they are selling. I would say that more often than not I do this with every you tube ad.

    Probably that many people die in a week there due to disease and lack of sanitation.

  5. I would argue just the opposite- for 'our agriculture' we overdue the phosphorus and nitrogen- so much so that waterways get polluted. The limited nutrient is CO2.

    Just a guess but to play at that level you probably develop a input rhythm that you must maintain, so you fill in the gaps with spam when you don't need input.

    Another thing they miss is that every once in a while you might be called to represent your company and have to 'dress up' for the occasion... so it shows you are capable of stepping up in these situations.

    Yeah this frustrates me too- when the real answer is 20 seconds with Google. I've said that in interviews and gotten weird looks like I am admitting to being a copy an paste coder or something. Who remembers all of this stuff-not to mention whatever you remember is outdated in a year or two.

    You have to think in terms relative to a computer- you can build a nice computer now for 500$. You couldn't do that in 2000.....

    Unless you are using a dual gpu system (this is when the limitations of pcie x1 become apparent) a 5 year old i7 can keep up with any of the fastest cards.

    I think there is a good chance that global warming and the resulting atmospheric moisture will bring water back to the Sahara. This should also be true for the southwest usa where monsoonal rains depend on ocean surface temperature in the gulf of california.

    Yeah, the hundred dollar bill is now worth 14$ compared to the value when the larger bills were discontinued. So we really now max out with 14$ bills. I am sure they dream of getting rid of cash entirely in the near future....

    Keep the truther nonsense to yourself. If you have ever worked for US government and understood what a bureaucratic mess it is there is no way in hades you would believe they would be capable of pulling something like this off and have hundreds/thousands of people involved keep it a secret.

    The shrinking market for coal is directly related to cheap natural gas from fracking. When these reserves are depleted it will revert to coal.

    Well so far in the millions of years in human evolution this hasn't happened. Viruses actually evolve to not kill their host as this is a kind of evolutionary suicide.

  25. Do you even understand what profitable means? If you can take 10 cents of grains and sell it for 4 or 5 dollars that is a large profit. There is no processing to be done to an apple, you can't promote it through advertising so you are limited by how much markup.. there is nothing to differentiate your apple from someone elses and if you charge too much than customers will go somewhere else.
