His site violates tons of usability ideas, and while I support his in general KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) ideas which have been in practice in Industrial Design for decades, he is very much a Luddite.
Grow up Jakob, you make a lot of money ranting against everything, but for the love of god, give it a rest and let the market decide what works and what doesn't.
With SP2, they are adding a new firewall (incoming/outgoing), popup blocking in IE, a new extentions manager in IE, bluetooth support integrated, wifi support greatly improved, and a new security center. Plus, there are UI improvements to IE and the rest of Windows.
OK, so this is all stuff that's been in OS X since day one. So, if you do it right the first time you should be punished for not adding it later?
Microsoft does add features to their OS.
And if they keep doing it for a couple more years, they will catch up. Good for them. Competition is good.
When an OSS / Linux / BSD / OS X / something other than Windows flaw is found, it's serious.
It really is. You need to take it seriously and fix it. ASAP. Hopefully, most folks who run said OSes are paying attention, and will do what they need to do to secure the flaw.
That said, every time anyone uses Outlook to read email, the above looks really, really good.
We used to back in QuakeWorld days.... took us a while to catch up, since the Windows folks had a year and a half on us, but we started dishing it out pretty good.
Let's pretend you want to have a secure computer system on which you wish to do your work.
Let's pretend you have two options:
1) You can get a machine that is secure "out of the box" and thusly immediately get to work on it with minimal, if any, additional effort.
2) You can get a machine that isn't secure out of the box, and you have to spend a lot of time and effort making it secure, taking your energy away from your work.
Fact that Mac never crashes, doesn't have to deal with Virus definition updates every week, doesn't phone home to BillG, doesn't make life hell when installing anything: Priceless.
"OMG, MACS SUXORS UR A FAG FOR BUYING SOMETHING THAT WORKS FOR A BIT MORE MONEY LOLOLOLO!@!@!!!"
Let me guess, you are 14, and your mom won't spend the extra few bucks for a Mac, right?
Understood, and yes, I agree with you on that point. We still have some time to go (probably two years or more) before such devices will become ubiquitous.
So as I mentioned, if people aren't buying, the price will come down, or the product will go away if profit can't be made..... but since multiple business entites are selling at that price, then it seems that price must be set for some reason, as described in my post.
Just becuase *you* think it costs too much, dones't mean it is... lots of people are buying the iPod mini (as well as it's competitors) so it can't be that overpriced.
Huh? Obviously if multiple companies have similar products at the same price point then one of the following is true:
1) It costs that much to produce, and that price is barely above break even.
2) Market research shows that's what consumers will spend for the product, and so it's price is set there.
3) A combo of 1 and 2.
So yes, it *does* excuse it... if the market will bear that price, then it's not too expensive. Welcome to capitalism. If the market won't handle that price, they will be discounted until the "correct" level is found.... or someone like you comes out with one that doesnt' cost so much.
hey're the ones who sell computers that are stuck to a monitor.
Hmm, my G4 didn't have a monitor when I bought it, but it seemed quite happy when I moved the 19" SONY that used to be attached to the Win2k box that the G4 replaced.
look at windows media player - it plays EVERYTHING.
Download a song from iTunes and play it in WPM. Try a Vorbis file without downloading non-Microsoft plugins / software for it.
Also, if your wonderful Windows give you a choice of capitalizing the first word of ever sentence, you may want to exercise that option.
Maybe he saw an advanced copy of Cat in the Hat and realized that people will destroy your loved one's creations to make really shitty stuff to get marketing gigs and product tie-ins.
Too bad conservatives don't have brains, or at least the ability to understand sarcasm. There are only two times the register shows something other than gibberish. Once is the message you are referring to, which was MOCKING conservatives. I'll leave it to someone else to try to help you "get jokes".
The other time it showed the cost of raising a child in the US. I forget which episode it was.
Honestly?
WHY??

It's not the liquid cooling part... it's that it's coming stock on a "Big Company" product line. At least that's what I got out of it.

Either you don't know how to type, or you don't know how to do math. Either way, please sit in the corner and practice some STFU for a bit.

There are many CD burning apps (besides the Finder) you can use. Try Google... it might help.
IF donating only after your government agrees to an MS licensing deal is your idea of charity....
I gave more than 0.04 percent of my income charity last year... why don't I get any puff pieces written about ME!

Which option would a smart person choose?
I guarantee System B beats system A

OMFG!! You are so right! BMW only has a 2% market share in the automotive market, so obviously their cars suck. Try again.
And will no doubt be the only Tablet that people actually want, and that does what people need a Tablet to do.
Then, three years later, the x86 crowd will rip it off and Mac bashers will once again jump back on the "HUR HUR MACS COST MONEY HUR HUR" bandwagon.
No US Servicemen died when Clinton lied.
What's the death toll in Iraq?

The plain side says "Mod -1 RTFA"
You must have missed his writings during the 8 years previous to Bush, or even the Clinton bashing quote in the interview.

I was having a good day until I read this. Now I'm sick to my stomach. /me checks calendar again to make sure it's not April 1st.
