So this means that we can fit the genetic information of any person on one CD or a 512MB SD? I feel compressed :(

The same quote caught my eye, but from a more political slant. I wish the current / next US administration will realize this and foster more ties rather than severing them by a "with us or against us" approach.

  7. They will find WMD in Iraq on Campaigns Wary About October Surprise · · Score: 1

This campaign boils down to the voter stance on the war in Iraq. So, if they manufacture a "find" of WMD (planted with stuff we got from Russia wholesale), it will turn the election. Because Bush and co will be vindicated in the view that Iraq was a threat and they were right to move in and remove him.

Either that, or we have Saddam say that he had an on-going WMD prog that he hid / destroyed in the last minute

I call BS on blaming everything on Montana and the lightly populated states. The densely populated states still account for the majority of the population (I think ~80% as of the 2000 census). Even in the densely populated areas, broadband is not necessarily available or adopted if available.

Also, Korea is up to 25 (or was it 50) mbps, while the best consumer broadband is 10mbps. We're just behind. Period.

  17. How many users does google have now? on Hotmail, Others Follow Gmail's Storage Boost · · Score: 1

There is a lot of conspiracy theories on how google is forcing MSN and Yahoo! into capital expenditures for allowing their users to go from 4-6MB to 100-250 MB. This begs the question: How many users DOES gmail have? From the frequency of invitest that we've seen and not too mention all the users of blogger.com, there's got to be over 1 million users.

While that is not as much compared to the 100+m for the MSN and Yahoo free customers, most of those are just dummy spam-bait accounts anyway so don't really require that much space.

Since google offers 4-10 times the size to begin with, the capital investment should be comparable. Tho google is probably more efficient at taking advantage of current tech for this because this was planned for them while the others are just catching up.
