Oh, please. By that deffinition, there is a lot of "great doftware" out there. And almost not bad software.
Good Software does what marketing says it does, correclty and as expected.
Great software is good sofware plus its simple to use and does things that you didn't expect it to do but that come in handy, while not annoying the hell out of its user.... more or less
then what about X-Rays? I would think faking bones and stuff would be harder ^^
It could even be extended to be a radiography of the whole hand, not know if it would be too problematic/expensive or prohibitive for some other reason though. any comments?
well, average Joe users are not the only users out there.
There are admins, developers, wannabes and what-not. I, have a bit more complex hierarchy in my home directory, with my stuff starting at ~/Personal and going down some few directories, and I use to brows the system too.
Ok I am going to make one dumb question. Though seeing how late I am in the discussion, It may go unanswered.
Am I right to think that the limit of SWAP (SW) is such that memory (MEM) and address bus with (W) follow this equation?
SW+MEM = 2^W
So that if I have all the physicall ram that my system can adress, swap would be useless? or would cause some trouble to the kernel or would not be possible to turn on?
Off course, nowaday PC's can address from 4 to 64 Gb (32 bits and some modified to address a bit more, right?) so it is unlikely.
Less stress at driving The knowledge that you are not contributing to ambiental pollution You can do things while there (i.e. read, sleep)
And stuff like that. In general, a mix of principles and personal preferences.
NOTE: I am not from USA, but I rather preffer to use public transport (i.e. subway, bus) than get my own car... and also use the money for something more interesting.
And how would you rotate it? with a key sequence like, say,... Alt-Tab or something?
So, how is rotate different from switching?
Until we get better I/O devices than a mouse and a keyboard, oriented to the 3D desktop, 3d desktops are mostly toys, and unusable.
Now here is an idea to make desktops more usable. What about lcd's with two displays, one normal sized and the other one a large touchscreen display for the use of icons and such? off course, this would need special drivers and stuff, which with all the closedness and all that would make it really hard to get some support for such device on linux...

Anyway, If I remember well, gpl says that if you plan to (re)distribute any modified version of a gpl'ed program, you must include the source and give the same gpl lisence, thus spreading the same rights to others.
I can't see what they might be doint against that. It doesnt say the source must be freely availablne (except as in free with the redistributed binary). But they do. But then, I might have given a different interpretation.
... I don like Gnome that much anymore. Besides the panel and the fact it uses gtk, I disagree with a lot of things, like absurdly minimalist configuration options AND documentation AND a regedit-like nightmerish hell with also minimalist documentation.
Anybody has successfully compiled e17 ? (yes. I am aware its not supposed to be usable/compilable yet) I have been waiting for it a looong time, and it seems there is always wan problem or another.
I remember I compiled once its file system when in e15 or e16 something, and It was really nice.... but haven been able to compile e17 ever. Now, that is something I really want to see...
If rpm, just grab the source rpm from the same program and modify it to your needs, if there is none, start your own.
slackware packages are very simple. Though I am clueless about debs and gentoo's packages, but you could get example packages and follow them to build your own custom made one.
Yay! Do you see all the add possibilities I do?
Slightly off-topic, but what do you know of these adds that wont let you scroll (with the keyboard cursors at least) if your mouse cursor is over it?
Just found one more on the article...

just my huble opinion.

thats funny, because I have always used V, and I have always though it stands for Voltage, which is not a unit, like Volt.

I am going to make one dumb question.
I always thought there was only one bridge out off Springfield.
was I wrong? or when did they build the other two, and rebuild the first one?
I think the main problem with Fedora and/or Redhat and maybe other distros is that they still produce binaries thinking on a i386.
Because there would be nothing (or very little) that we could do about it.
Being a FLOSS sofware, its amusing, interesting, enlightening and fun.
Odd.
I though a word was the memory you can access on one memory access.. (that is, the number of bits/cells at one address)
32 bit architectures hence have a word width of 32 bits.
Or did I miss something?
How can it be labeled spoiler if nobody knows it for sure?
I still want to belive that it's just a false rumor.
So, is it a remasterededition with thx and new scenes so that it can be seen as it was really mean to be seen?
Will there be any prequels yet?
... every restaurant is a Taco Bell?
A simpson quote is due.
(more or less, I didnt watch it in english)
Crowd: I want it! I want it!
Lisa: Stop!! Don't you see? It's the same old Stacy Maliboo, only they gave her a new hat!
Mr Smithers: But the Hat is NEW!!
Crowd: I want it! I want it! I want it!

That's just because many slashdot readers do not have a WideBand connection.
Now, I just got 256 kbps a few weekends ago... So I'm joining the troop.
I dont understand it.
Why have so many entries scattered all around in different places reffering the same applications?
What the heck information does a "schema" has anyway?
And why aren't they documented? (inside the app)
Although its already late to ask this...
