That reminds me of an episode of the "Freaks and Geeks" series where Bill calls over the phone to his sports teacher, and starts insulting him (faking a different voice), because he is angry the teacher wouldn't do anything about team-picking (he was always chosen last). The teacher immediately knows its a joke, and the next class gets all his students into his office and starts asking each one to repeat a series of insults he wrote on a sheet of paper for him to hear and recognize de voice...
Neal, one of Bill's friends, takes advantage of that...
... I remember that each courses first couple of classes were always devoted to see how to use the instruments. It turned out that one teacher exasperated of this told us on one class why that was... Every class may have different devices (osciloscope, i.e.) and because its usuall that different brands can not use same ordering of plugs and stuff because they would be infringing in some kind of patent... That thing about the "end" button just shows me how far things can get... I expect that in fear of infringing a patent, they didnt label a red button "off"...
plus, Harry Potter movies are NOT close to the books either. When will it be realized? A Slitherin ghost that has to be creepy, but looks like Capitain Hook? Stripping the movie of many characters? changing characters parts? heck! I think that a list longer than that of LotR could be made for Harry Potter's firs two movies. And those movies are umbearable to watch more than once (for me, anyway)

right there. welcome globalization. How many years before the whole globe gets to an average cost of living do you thing it will take? maybe 20? 50? If we had Psychohistory and Hary Seldon was with us, it would be nice to speed up things a little.
... it is a well designed scam. next thing you will know is a lot of people receiving an emeil from that guy asking for monetary help to recover himself from a scam.
He will argue that this could have happened to you.
... only Automan could do it. Now all I need is a magic blinking cursor that will built anything I might need out of thin air and electricity ^^ I have always wanted a car that can turn 90 degress in an instan an a super speed.
this reminds me of Seria Experiments Lain... And I thought to myself, "what? swallow a chip?"... well, I must admint I havent read the article:P, so I dont trully know if the chip is swallowed, but given its coated with some sort of drig, what are the chances?
Anyway, "anyone knows what OS will it be running?"
A grep on the configuration prompts would be great!
I have to always look line by line to find the right module, and it is each time. yes, I am lazy and with a bad memory (well, not bad memory, that only goes to show that I dont recompile/reconfigure kernels so often as to learn the lines I need)
Well, I'd think that its because of most of the rants about linux that you see in "newbie" discussion bords/e-mail lists/etc...
Many newbies are ok, and they seem to be ok with learning of new ways of doing things. But many others seem to know that Linux Is Not UniX, but fail to acknowledge that Linux is not windows either.
And as more and more people get converted from Windows to Linux, this will get significantly more common and annoying.
Thats one reason why I dont show Linux to relatives (and sometimes friends too) that look at computers as little more than a typewriter and a stereo (or something like that).
I am a lousy guy and havent read the patent. But they say in the site "eolas" stands for "Embedded Objects Linked Across Systems". What exactly do they mean by "embeded"? a java applet is an object, all right, but it is not embedded on a page, is it? it is "embedded" on display time. Is that what the patent talks about?
I think it would be ok to have advertising screensavers and images on the installation process. It could even be a good idea to have NICE advertising on NICE screensavers (and they must still behave like screensavers, not activate at random:) ) But not on the browser or any application for that matter.PLEASE!
well, flash of course...
Now, do we REALLY want that to happen?

You do not need to hold down the Capsl Lock key, you know.
uhm... to get what they want is my guess... ....
It just happens that it is possible to get what they want by telling the truth...
bias is relative...
relative to what? I hear you say.
well... that depends... that, too, is relative...
... I remember that each courses first couple of classes were always devoted to see how to use the instruments.

it might have been another reason, but still...

Now, THATS funny!
What do you think would be needed to get to that point?
Corporations all over the world spreading?
people migrating everywhere?
right there.

ok... bad taste joke, maybe.
I wonder what wouls spammers be able to do with that...
... rate (A)D&D as a [posible] family game?

are you sure it is not patented already?
Hurry up!!!
Do it Now before it is too late!

Like that would make any difference...
Its the first time I hear about that.
Does it have a back-up CPU? else, between unplug and plug, where is the OS running, or how does it resumes?

... I was wrong.
When I first read the title my first thought was.
"Hell! another patent/IP thingy!
Now who can save us all?"
Its a relief that this time it was not that case...
Nice thing they are long past, else we could be having a lot more of patents/IP/whatever headache.

yeah.
Next thing we'll be hearing is SCO/Caldera somehow managed to buy EOLAS, and now its all hell.
