The absolute numbers for a country are much more politically motivated, since countries are purely political entities. People, on the other hand, are physical entities, too.
Didn't mean to imply YOU were saying such a thing, was a bit polemic from me. It's rather about "China is the biggest polluter" argument as a whole and its implications.
Surely, decreasing CO2 emission is always a good thing.
While I agree with everything else, I am not sure, why everyone has always to mention absolute numbers to China's CO2 production. China ist also the most populous county in the world. And the its CO2 emission per capita for 2008 is on par with Sweden or Israel and less than third of the US one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions_per_capita).
Unless one argues that the Chinese people are less valuable than the US citizens (you can't even tell them from one another!), I don't see, how one can critisise China without being a hypocrite. That goes not only to the US, Germany, France and half of the developed world in worse in that regard.
Of course, if China was to provide an equal living standard to every citizen, the situation would be entirely different. And you can surely use some metric like CO2-emission/GDP, where China would look quite terrible and make a valid argument about their efficiency. But right now, China as a whole is more CO2-free than most of the developed countries.
Using Cyanogenmod 9 (personal preference, onecosmic's is awesome too:) Alphas for 5 days and can largely share the experience. The hardware accelerated UI is awesome. Some issues, primarily with cameras and battery life isn't as great as with the stock firmware, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a early custom rom.
And if you are already using some custom rom with clockworkmod, installing CM9 is as imbarassingly easy as copying the newest build on the internal sd and flashing it via recovery or the Rom Manager.
Can't wait, till the new build will be available directly in the Rom Manager.
I am making the case, that people who exploit loophole are generelly frowned upon by other people. A ambulance chasing lawer would be a typical example. Strangely, it's A-OK for corporations to do so.
And I reffer to your "That may be, but if bullshit is the law it is hard to fault companies for using it to their maximum advantage[...}". It would be not hard at all, it we would be talking about people.
I love how corporations are, supposedly, people, but noone expects them to act ethically or for the good of the society. One would think, it was ment to be the other way around...
Interesting read, because of all the factual information in it (I assume, it's actually correct).
Is "renewable energy" a meaningless term? Sure, even sunlight isn't limitless. Everything's finite and we're all gonna die, buhu. The things we call "renewable" are more sustainable in a long run, than current main energy sources (e.g. coal), that's what it is about. You can discuss semantics all you want.
So, while understanding the technology limitations is surely important, the solution is not to do nothing, just because we can't achieve perfect results just yet.
Not sure what are you talking about. Maybe your tablet (or mobile) can't adjust the brightness right? On Nokia N800, for example, you can scale the backlight down pretty good and it is perfekt for using it in "absolute" darkness.
You NEED photons projected directly into your pupils to see, reflected or otherwise doesn't make a big difference (yeah, reflected light is polarised, not that you could see it with a naked eye). It is a matter of light intensity and it is not that hard to adjust.
Am I the only one who wants backlight in his tablet? E-Ink is all nice and good, but its stupid to have to turn the lights on to read from an electronic device...
Couldn't find information anywhere else, so I'll ask: is the issue here really downloading? Like in downloading over HTTP from, let's say, an 1-click-hoster? If so, how do they even find out? Man-in-the-midlle? Hoster giving out the downloader data? Seems not really plausible to me.
Or is it about torrent, where you not only download, but also upload stuff? No idea, how it is in NZ, but in Europe it is a HUGE difference.
It isn't that easy. A photon can travel with the speed of light because i has no mass. Neutrino, on the other hand, was proven to have a mass. Even if we substitute C wie the new speed of neutrino, it would mean, that each neutrino has an infinite kinetic energy, which is, obviously, isn't something you want to have in your physics.
They didn't, indeed, said it explicitely in the BBC article, but it's obvious, that they are talking about the speed of light in vacuum. Exceeding speed of light in a medium is nothing new of "buffling", see Cherenkov's radiation, for example.
This isn't how the relativity works. Even if two bodies move with velocities which in sum would exceed speed of light, they can only get closer at speed of light.
The same people who won't let you get away with claiming that your brakes malfunctioned?
What does it have anything to do with UMG blatantly missusing take-down notice system?

Basically, Google denied all rumors.

FED isn't the goverment, it's a private bank.

Thanks, overlooked it. If its done right, I may be the optimal solution.

Don't give Apple stupid ideas...
[...]yet is claimed to be an "open" browser.
Which Chrome developer, of cause, never did, but hey, don't let the facts stop you from hating!
PROTIP: Chromium - open source, Chrome: closed source, based on Chromium.
Americans could break Japanese toys with their pee.
Another "Asian dick" joke...classy!
NOOOOOOO!
Kidding, quite excited if you can really measure up to KotoR.
Handling speeds which are that near to the speed of light without regarding the relativity is quite far from "educated".

I wonder if the people who work in CERN know, that Earth, contrary to popular belief, is not flat.
Fixed it for you.
FFS, nothing personal, but could you people stop trying to explain complex physical phenomena with your "gut feeling"?
Here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel#Via_faster-than-light_.28FTL.29_travel , read it, comprehend it, think twice next time before post something. Tl;dr FTL = time travel in context of SRT.
Mods: You are welcome to mod me down for my bm, but I really had enough with this whole discussion...
