    Great summary of how the US military-industrial complex works in today's world. Eisenhower's farewell address warned of the power this growing (at the time) hybrid group of military leaders and defense contractors has. They aren't about to give it up for the sake of a better world.

    Not everyone hated Vista. Many OEM's saddled it with 512-MB of RAM and single core slow CPU's. With 3 or more GB of RAM 64-bit Vista runs conventional programs as fast as Windows 7. Our shop only built custom PC's with 64-bit Vista that had 4-GB RAM or more. These ran circles around 32-bit XP machines, after fully booted. Vista is, and always will be, the slowest booting OS that MS every made. Once booted, it runs okay.

    You have a valid point in the MSE was good when released. Then when resources were focusing on Windows 8, MSE fell down in real world testing at AV-Test and AV-Comparatives. Since that time three years ago it has recovered and is once again okay to use.

    China neither offers nor guarantees its citizens a right to privacy. The US constitution guarantees that to US citizens. The distinction is profound. Apple is correct in this instance.

    It took centuries before the pope finally called Christians to arms. Yes, Muslims conquered Levant in the 7th century. But, damn, taking over 300 years to begin the action to free Jerusalem, was mighty slow. Even then, news took weeks or months, not hundreds of years to travel..

    For what you trying to accomplish, there are more open source programs available for Windows than any other platform. If your computer is stand alone, you need not worry about phone home telemetry, or just use Windows 7. Auto Tune alternatives are widely available for Windows than Linux, if that matters to you. Otherwise, Linux is great if it meets all your projected needs.

    I disagree with most of what you wrote as your opinions seem to be based on your experiences only. In other parts of the world I'm sure there are cultural norms concerning racism and local mindsets of superiority, regardless of known facts. In middle America where I live anyone that speaks well is accepted. Ebonics is looked down upon as low class.

    We work on PC's for a living. I haven't seen this bug in months. It's been patched. Try updating to the latest build, please. At least try running sfc /scannow.

  17. I wonder if the powers that be at Microsoft realize the deep extent of distrust that they have brought to PC consumers. Our shop has a lot of customers that have been asking about Macs and even Chromebooks, since their kids use them in school. In the meantime, MS has been building resentment for their OS. That's going to have a negative long term effect on them. Maybe they haven't noticed how few Windows phones there are and considered that the same thing could also happen to Windows PC's market share over time.

    It's amazing that NK still has the means to play serious games with the rest of the world. Of course, this test was intended to scare the rest of the world into throwing more money at the madman in charge hoping he stays quite again, for a little while at least. Instead, new ways to provoke an eventual land war will be dreamed up. They won't just go away. China needs to do more to keep NK under control, unless NK's games are tolerated by China for reasons unknown.
