I think the point he was making is that he was wrong that there would be so "many" PCs because Windows was bad at multi-user environments.
Surely everyone has at least one PC these days.
WIN8 running very very well already on ARM processors.
They rebooted WIN8 to the originally planned WIN7 micro kernel.
Win8 is a one microkernel with multiple interfaces to be booted up within 3sec.
1. It can be traditional PC
2. CAN be Tablet
3. Can be WInphone (Bye bye WInphone 7... if you didn’t realize it was/is just a research and UI project)
4. It runs inside TVs (Hello Samsung!)
5. Runs in the cloud.
6. It is the embedded.
The same Win8.
The Winphone 7 software delivery packaging implemented and further enhanced for consistent solution delivery.
One development toolkit to develop solution across all platforms.
You think it is not true. You don't believe that MS can pull this off. They already did it!!! Just they have learnt from Apple. SILENCE! You will be shocked.
People talking about the backward comp ability as an issue. This is NOT a problem anymore because of what MS done in the virtualization.
The virtualization is part of the kernel and can natively virtualize anything to achieve backward compability.
Have you ever thought what this Really really means? You should have goose bumps...
Flame much? NTFS permissions is far better than standard unix-modes and is very flexible. Most linux distros require you to manually install ACL to get something like that working. And then you might have to recompile applications so that they will be aware of the ACL feature. ALSO: Backups should be offline and in multiple locations.
Well you implied it. "I can still play games, therefore i can have fun".
It's not trolling to point out that gaming gets boring for a lot of us when we get older. Just because you didn't get tired of gaming doesn't mean that it's not true for a lot of us. So rather than forcing oneself to game, one should just except it and get on with life doing things one actually enjoy.
So what if you didn't stop playing games? I'm in my mid twenties and i've outgrown my interest for gaming. People change, maybe not everyone, but don't freak out if it happens to you. Just accept that you don't get a huge satisfaction out of it anymore and seek out new hobbys. Building model airplanes or whatever.
Fun != Gaming. I used to trick myself to thinking I was still a gamer. But going from 3-4 hours per day to 0,5/1-hour a week i just had to realize that gaming wasn't fun anymore and stop forcing it. Does that mean i don't have fun any longer? No, it just means i find other things more amusing. Being social is one of those things.
WP7 uses silverlight for apps right? I promise you that windows 8 will be compatible with this.

But it's true. One person, one pc. He was just a bit early.
Wait. Your backup target is ONLINE? I've got news for you buddy. You don't have backups!
Guys. Let's stay on topic. Don't derail this thread.
Every new install does it by default..
Damn you Micorsoft. You should default to random!
So... I will surprise everybody.
