For those of you concerned about the privacy issues surrounding Google Chrome, there is a virtually identical FOSS alternative that Google can't farm data from. See, http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php
Really? On the high end maybe 1% of the internet population uses some type of adblocking software. Not to mention there are ways to block ads and still browse with Chrome, not as well as Adblock, but it gets the job done.
Personally I have no problem without adblocking software, if it means I don't have to run the bloated piece of shit that is Firefox (sorry guys, just being honest).
Do some SEO and send DMCA takedown notices to the sites linking to/hosting the content. If the sites do not comply with your takedown notices file a complaint with google to remove the offending content from their search results.
Given the technology skills most my teachers have had I can see them trying to put the dvd inside a photocopier and hoping for the best. Your average teacher couldn't rip a DVD, and why bother when you can just get any notable clip you want off youtube. Go fight with Google MPAA.
Look, Chrome is significantly speedier than Firefox and terms of both usability and running the program. For me that's all that really matters, so I use chrome. I know, it's doesn't have addons, but that's really only a deal breaker for adblock, which I don't use anyway for moral reasons.
Really? So every time my government representative does something stupid I have an obligation to write them a letter expressing my distaste, or I automatically comply with what happens? Who's to say bitching on slashdot is less/more effective than writing your congressmen a letter they won't even read?
Because it is essentially stealing from the website. As other posters have mentioned, many users don't bother to wait for the page to load and just go directly for the full size image. This is basically hotlinking with an extra click in there for the user, and considered bad practice. Frames may be the best solution in this case, but it still has flaws.
I find it incredibly ironic that two ad blockers are at war with each other over blocking ads that support their service. I hope this isn't a preview of what's to come if the use of ad blocking software becomes widespread.
Interesting idea, I wonder if this will lead to people purposely adding lines of code just to generate more revenue. Hopefully they would set up a price system based upon supply/demand at that point though.
So does this mean I will just have to pay taxes on the items I pirate, and not for the items themselves?
As a Linux user I find it hilarious that Slashdot thinks Linux in general can be used with minimal hassle.
Is he rich from craigslist or some other venture? I have trouble believing craigslist is raking in a huge amount of cash.

Well the first thing I would do is post about it on Slashdot under my username. That way the cops could have absolutely no way to trace it back to me.
You're post was doing okay until your true motives of bragging about how great you are were revealed in the last sentence.

And Godwin's law has been indirectly fulfilled.

If I understand you correctly you can actually link to individual comments within a post in wordpress.

I can't tell if the purpose of this post was to brag about yourself or hate on human resources. Either way it's pointless.

First the discussion on whether or not Watchmen was a success and now this? What has Slashdot come to.
People have predicted the end of net neutrality and the internet for years. It still hasn't happened, and it's because of places like Slashdot.
