Let's see, $1,000,000 split 7 ways gives us $142,857.14 each. Let's say taxes take half, now you are down to only $71,428.57 each. Unless one of them kills all of their partners like in The Dark Knight that ain't much of a prize.
It costs $60/1000 viewers on hulu because they have exclusive advertising. Sure they make less per advertiser on TV but they are showing ads from 4 or 5 diferent people every commercial break. So it's more like $30*5=$150/1000viewers on TV.
For all you slashdot perverts, no this doesn't mean you can have sex with her. People of need to be mature mental state, as well as physical state before consent can be given.
Society rewards greatness in competitive, valuable fields. Writing music may not be as valuable as curing cancer, but no one in this comment thread could write/sing a song as well as he. So that's why we reward him, despite his personal shortcomings.
IMHO passwords should be fully visible when a user is either changing their password, or registering a new account. This means we no longer need to confirm passwords twice when registering. And it still cuts down on the number of times when a password is visible and vulnerable to other people.
So I need to get tinfoil glasses now too so the government can't control my mind? How do you expect those of us that believe in conspiracy theories to see UFOs? Sounds shady.
Google is a shitty way to monetize compared to direct ad sales, ad sales from a large network, or affiliate marketing. You might get $0.30-$1.00 in a high paying niche, but that same high paying niche will do much better with other monetization methods.
The problem is people think that blogging about their boring lives for a weeo and throwing adsense up there will make you a millionaire. It doesn't work like that.
Go to bing.com and click on video search. Then type in "naked women" and hit enter. Hover your mouse over each thumbnail. Now you should understand why google is scared shitless of bing, they are already destroying them where it counts, as a porn search engine.
Charging businesses as a way of monetizing twitter just doesn't make sense. First, how do you determine just who exactly is a business. Do you only include Dell right alongside mom and pop stores? Secondly the only reason the Dell is raking in the cash is because it offers exclusive deals, which it happens to put on twitter. If they did the same thing on FaceBook, or any other platform, I imagine they would have similar results.
I wonder if this means they will also begin cracking down on people promoting rebills (crap online products that start with an initial buy in price of $2 but then charge you another $60 after a month). Which they try to claim they're legal because they bury it 4 pages in on the Terms and Conditions page which is link to in fine print on the bottom of the sales page.
It's not your average joe going out registering a name they might use in the future. It's a few name squatters who get a list of popular baby names and register a shit ton of accounts. Then hopefully in the future they can sell those accounts if twitter ever becomes more than just hype.
I always thought just saying "your business model sucks" was kind of a cop out. Look if their business model makes them enough money to stay afloat more power to them. If it doesn't and they die, that's just tough luck. You can't blame the business model on everything.
Jesus guys I thought the Dark Knight comment would tip you off, I was trying to be funny.

Sure it's cool, but can anyone give me a situation where they would actually use this in real life? I'm still waiting on the basic stuff, like Flash.
Yeah because it's totally impossible for people to fake their whois information. ICANN is shitty enough already, we don't need to make it worse.

LSD and Weed, just stock up on Doritos and Grateful dead CDs beforehand.
The CNN video on the subject: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2009/06/25/jvm.miley.scare.cnn shows not only the sensationalism of television, but people's willingness to ignore ideas of free speech to "protect the children".

Someone needs to make a source mod where the objective is to go around violently killing alien monsters that censor the internet.
"perform computations on clients' data at their request, such as analyzing sales patterns"
Or without their request.
Lucky, I can't even see the comment field thanks to the header changing colors every time I click an article.
I think this is will be skynet's first strike against mankind.
I'm sure they will eventually make a model that's powered on beating the crap out of the geeky kids at school soon. Every slashdotters dream.

Godwin's law needs to be adapted for circumcision.

So it's more okay to steal from corporations than from your average citizen? Stealing is stealing.
I'm still waiting on the dozen or so cures for cancer that have been announced in the past week.
