The OnStar that is on most pickup trucks and SUVs, isn't the one with the pretty screen and Internet access, that is usually an additional charge ontop of your standard OnStar services. You may want to check into which OnStar package you are getting in those trucks. Most OnStar is just your standard help line and gps, stuff like that, but no Internet access.
I would think that 4 legs would provide much easier balance than 2. Alot of effort has been put into balance and movement on 2 legs (as far as robots are concerned), and it doesn't really seem that necessary to me, except that people seem to expect that "advanced" robots should look like us as much as possible. Robots should try to overcome what disadvantages humans have as far as movement and mobility, otherwise, we're just making something no better than ourselves, it just doesn't complain when you ask it to stamp and seal 5000 envelopes.
a machine that looks like a human? Seriously, what is the point in developing a robot that looks like a human? The design is so limited! Look at all the trouble with bipedal travel. Also, until it has decent AI capabilities, it's not doing anything amazing as far as I am concerned. They've just made a robot that can respond to commands, like any other robot can do, that command set is just more complex, and the robot is alot bigger and looks like a deepsea diver.
I have honestly paid for every game I have and use. This includes:
Duke Nukem 3d (okay, so I don't still play it)
Simcity, Simcity 2000, Simcity 3000
The Sims
Half-Life/Counter-Strike
Unreal Tournament
Q3/Q3TA
Black and White
Flight Simulator 2000
And many more. If people didn't pay for games, people wouldn't make games. People like you are the reason software is so expensive for the rest of us. If everyone paid for games/software, then prices *should* go down. It's the same thing for retail stores. Theft drives prices up. If you play a game, be thoughtful enough to support the people and company that created it for you.
Most people pay abour $40/month for cable Internet access (at least I do).
My estimate for the average price of unlimited 56k dialup access is probably around $20/month. (AOL is $23!) Add to that another $17/month for a second phone line, and you are paying $3 less for about 6.5 times less bandwidth. (Assuming you get 3Mb/s with your cable. I have many times with Time Warner Cable, and average a decent 1Mb/s the rest of the time.)
Even if we include the install fee for cable (which is often free if you get it at the right time.) of $100, minus the cost of a good modem for a fair comparison ($30).
If you use the service for 2 years, that's about an extra $2 per month, so it's only $5 additional per month for cable. Btw, dial-up is not more reliable, just a hell of a lot easier for someone unfamiliar with computers to set up. Especially since most computers people buy with Windows on them, come with a modem, and all they have to do is a click a button to get connected....
I can just see it now. You're sitting on a bus on your way to work, reading your e-mail when all of a sudden you hear: "ENLARGE YOUR PENIS NOW!" "XXX GIRLS INSIDE, CUM JOIN US" "COME INSIDE AND LICK MY..." well you get the idea. I hope you have headphones!
Not to mention 1984. He has alot of other great works too, but they aren't really Sci-Fi. In fact, very down to earthish, real-life kind of stories, but they're great!
Why on earth would any of those people be using LITERS!!!!!!!!!! I would hope that a mathematician, physician and engineer would all be smart enough to use standard fluid volume measurements.
I'm curious what you all have to offer as far as recommendations for a good heatsink/fan for an Athlon 1333. Right now, if I remember correctly it runs at about 86 C steady, with a simple CoolerMaster.
Also, at what temps does performance take a hit, and at what temps does it improve? Since we're talking about thermal tech. here, I think these are very relevant questions.
If it fell off, he didn't put it on right. It's held there with a heck of a lot of force. Was it strapped to the roof of his car and fell off at the time?
How often does your heatsink fall off the CPU? Most of those are held there with 40 lbs of pressure, it's going to take quite a hit to knock it off. 9 minutes of running quake 3 with the fan failing is a more likely scenario, that gives you plenty of time to shutdown. Most BIOS can be setup to issue warnings at certain temps, and since it obviously took 9 minutes to heat up to a fail temp, that would have been enough time for it to warn you as well. (Or you can just use your own monitoring software)
.
If you care enough about a business that you get goods/services from, and you want them to stick around, you just might care enough to help them out when they are in need.
Sort of like going to the local Mom&Pop grocery stores instead of Marsh or Kroger or whatever your big name one is. But if that Mom&Pop grocery store was having trouble, you can bet that their community would rally rehind them and find ways to get support for them if they were good enough at what they did. Why should the Internet be any different?
This is the reason why they are unaffective, and therefore, websites need to find an alternative for funding. You know, sort of like if commercials on TV were 1 second flashes of a logo, and all you had to do was blink to ignore it, they wouldn't be very profitable, thus we are given 15/30/45/60 second ads instead. Radio is the same way, if a commercial consists on 1 second of a guy saying "Pepsi" and that's it, no one is going to care.
rather than complaining that we don't want big annoying ads, we should be finding ways to make the Internet more profitable for businesses without them.
I would be that if you asked alot of people, they would agree with Voltaire, and fight to the death their's and other people's freedom of speech. What good is living if you have no freedom?
Death is preferrable to oppression and no freedom. Go on, I invite you to live in a country that doesn't enjoy the same freedoms we have, and maybe then you'll appreciate them more.
I would assume they respond by snail mail, because that way it is on official letterhead, etc., and you can be absolutely certain it came from their office. It's not like it costs anything, their signature qualifies for a postage stamp, and they get allowances for mailing consituents.
Here in Indiana, each time I have e-mailed my congressmen/women and senators, as long as the letter was written intelligently and wasn't rude or accusing, etc. I have recieved a snail mail response in a few weeks or more, depending on how busy they were. Usually whoever types the letter has to put their initials on the bottom, next to the congressperson's, looking something like this: bs : MS, which means that Bob Smith wrote the letter for your congressmen, Mark Smith. While it is possible that the congressmen has someone working for them with the same initials, on multiple occasions, I have received letters with the initials ms : MS on the bottom, so I always just pretend he wrote it, whether or not he did.
I'll also note that these letters are almost always informative, and explain the senators views about what you asked about, how he/she has voted in the past, etc. OBVIOUSLY these letters are almost always prewritten or the same for all who inquirer about a certain bill/subject/etc. Can you imagine individually writing all those letters? If you want to know more than the basics about how they feel about something, then your best bet is to try to arrange a meeting with them. They are not unreachable, and if you know a veteran or something, you definetly have a good chance at meeting them (at least when they aren't in session).
Most won't even listen to you if aren't a constituent, whether or not you live in their state. (I.e., congressman/woman from district 12 isn't going to listen to a person living in district 4.).
Wouldn't be much different, I'd just be on the phone alot more, and have alot more paper notes lying around. It's not like it is the only source of communication in the world. Try imagining life without electricity. I wouldn't put e-mail even in the top 100 of the "inventions" list, even if it is/isn't an invention...

NEW CHEATING COUNTER MEASURES - There has been quite a bit of new code added to make it much more difficult to cheat and hack the game. We'd tell you more, but that would be defeating the purpose... Rest assured that it will be harder to cheat than ever before.
Obscurity not Security, which means it will only be a matter of time before someone figures out a way to cheat just the same...... *sigh*

Or you could just hit refresh like the original poster said to. Do you even read what you see or just click on links?
I'm pretty sure he's in the first trailer that released, played before Monster's Inc. Anyone want to verify that?
I'm curious as to why you decided to ship your equipment across the border instead of carrying? Less taxes to pay or what?

Someone told me these numbers sounded high, so I bothered to actually check, my MB runs at about 27 C and the CPU is at 56 C.
