    Why do you NEED MSIE? While I run Windows XP as my primary OS; the only time I use MSIE is for Windows/Office Update. Apart fromt hat, I have no use for it at all. Mozilla has more than replaced IE for me.

    I've see the first option put to use in factories. Managers are constantly looking for ways to reorganize work around the plant so as to get rid of one person. Even if it means that another person is doing so much work that they collapse at the end of the night. The person who got the burden of the extra work might be more productive initially, but at an extreme cost to morale and long term productivity.

    Just because the majority thinks it is right and should be law doesn't mean that it is right and should be law. Majority rule does not mean that the majority is right and should necessarily enact laws that more than 50% of people agree with.

    In Germany at least, you aren't free to select a name for your offspring. Offensives names are forbidden (Like Hitler, and a more recent case of a Turkish couple living in Germany that wanted to name their child Osama Bin Laden).

    From the article it sounds like they just got an A for effort because they did 10 years of work so they were just given the doctorate, but they didn't actually meet the requirements for it.

    Read further in the article and you'll see that they barely even got their doctorates. The one guy got the lowest passing grade, and the other failed.

    Besides, the article focuses more on the integrity of articles printed in scientific journals, and how it is hard to figure out if something is worthwhile or if it is crap when they're so hard to understand.

    Did you read the article? It clear that these guys have a shady past at best, previously guilty of plagiarism. Also, a few other noted scientists stated that these guys 'do not know how to do physics' based on their conversations with them. Most of physics does make sense because it is basic laws of motion and gravity. The stuff that is hard for most people to understand are things like quantum physics and theoretical physics.

    I voted for Libertarian candidates

    I vote without regard to political party because, like many people here, THINK FOR MYSELF!

    Think for yourself next election, just because someone got on the ticket for a particular party doesn't really mean jack. Did you see the guy on the daily show that was on the ballot as a libertarian candidate even though the libertarian party didn't support him at all?

    AND! Only vote if you know what you are voting for. Ignorant voters are more a bain to democracy than non voters. So you don't know who is running for congress in your district? Don't vote for your favorite party, turn the page and go to the next race and don't vote for anyone in that race.

    Stupid voters suck! Immigrants probably have a better knowledge of how our government works than natural born citizens because they have to take a test about it to become a citizen. There should be a test on the basic principles of our government and the constitution required in order to vote. How can you vote if you don't know how your own government even works!

    Yeah, sort of like when people test the speed of a computer using an application specifically optimized for it, you're going to get unrealistic results in some cases.

    Besides, I'd rather not waste my time trying to get this and play something that is only going to run at 20 fps and not impress me. I'll wait until there is a formal demo released, or have the opportunity to see it on a friend's machine. That way I'll actually be playing with the final product.

    If you test drove a lot of 'alpha' versions of the cars on the road today you might not want to drive the final version at all. =]

    The statement about RAM is technically correct. It will retain its state untit the 'reset' input is set to '1'. I think the need to have power applied continuously is understood.

    Basically building a seawall might protect YOUR beach, but the next guy down the coast is going to have even more energy now eroding his beach. Much like a dam, they are done to improve the environment on one side of something for the benefit of one person without regard to much else. The Colorado river used to be a heck of a lot cooler and more powerful, and even flooded like the Mississippi and Nile before we stopped it up. Natural processes work themselves out and human solutions only seak to temporarily make life easier for us.

    Or people could just not be stupid and build their houses in more sensible places instead of in a spot where it is likely to be destroyed anyway! Here's a list of stupid places to build your house for the uniformed:

    Very near an unprotected ocean coast
    On a barrier island
    On mud near a fault line where major earthquakes occur (i.e. most of CA and/or St. Louis)
    At the bottom of a hill
    On sand or mud

    etc., etc., etc. I really feel no pity for anyone who is stupid enough to build their house in one of those places!

    Why the use of ANY electronic device is prohibited below a certain altitude, except when sitting still at the gate? Not that I followed the rules because I wanted to take some nice pictures on a flight that barely went above that altitude for long (BGR to BOS).

    I saw a large scale version of something like this where you run around on a huge board and your 'weight' tilts it. It was just a big screen you were standing on of course, so it didn't really move.

    Yes, but the state is not going to vote 55/45 on the issues they want, like:

    "We will repeal state taxes and wasteful state government programs. We will end the collaboration between state and federal law enforcement officials in enforcing unconstitutional laws. We will repeal laws regulating drugs and guns. We will end asset forfeiture and abuses of eminent domain. We will privatize utilities and end inefficient regulations and monopolies. Then we will negotiate directly with the federal government for more autonomy."

    A bigger issue: How 20,000 people are going to take over a whole state when the main political parties will outnumber them almost 100 to 1? In order to enact these changes you have to get elected, and 20,000 votes isn't enough to make you governer or win a majority in a state house or senate.
