That can't be right. That'd be like going into a pizza shop, but the mechanic says that your oil...wait, shoot, I'm clearly no good at this. I better leave the analogies to the Analogy Guys.
I'll wait for Release Candidate Colony. Just a little more stable than Beta Colony, but still pre-release, so I'll still be a little 1337 for using it.
Very much looking forward to Colony 1.0! Keep up the good work!
There's a big difference between "mostly dead" and "all dead". You see, "mostly dead" is "slightly alive". With "all dead", well, there's usually only one thing you can do - go through his clothes and look for loose change.
In the end, they are so intertwined it's ridiculous to assume that you can do one without the other, but the idea that eating well will keep you in good health is hilarious.
Hey, just how many calories does the average person use just to stay alive, even if in a sedentary environment? 'Cause the whole point of that link you posted is the calorie balance, and I think that the same could be scaled down to someone who sits at a desk and hacks away at source code all day. Figure out how many calories it takes to exist, and eat just that many (or less, if you're trying to lose weight).
Long as you make sure you balance nutrient intakes and such, wouldn't that be equally healthy? In other words, as long as you balance both nutrients and calories against your sedentary lifestyle, couldn't it be healthy to diet without exercising?
Er, isn't a complete rewrite what's supposed to happen when the developer increments the main version number (like going from IE 6 to IE 7)? Even if there's no documentation of Microsoft explicitly saying that IE was completely rewritten, I would think that the incremented version number is claim enough.
When you're 5: "Sharing is a nice thing to do, kids. Don't be selfish! Hoarding your stuff makes you look like a huge jerk."
When you're 25: "Sharing is an evil thing to do, citizen. It's not selfish! Letting other people use your stuff is illegal because it means I make less money. Pay no attention to the fact that my salary is an order of magnitude higher than yours!"
WTF world! If sharing is evil, don't tell me when I'm 5 that it's nice!
If I ever manage to have kids, I want to raise them to believe that sharing is evil. I will then note other people's reactions to the idea. If people are generally shocked and appalled that people could actually believe this, then I will use that as an argument to show why this BS that the RIAA believes in must be outlawed.
well, "the internet" is slightly less portable than a cell phone.
"The Internet" is just a giant network, so qualifying or quantifying its "portability" is pretty meaningless. The Internet is already everywhere that the network reaches, and so does not need to travel from place to place. However, if we define the "portability" of something as the "ability of a person to use the thing regardless of physical location", then the portability of the Internet is entirely dependent on the portability of the computer and the ubiquity of Internet access points (likely wireless) in the area.
And given that mobile telecommunication networks are being used increasingly for Internet access as well as mobile phone service, one might argue that the Internet is exactly as portable as a cell phone. Maybe even more portable, since more portable devices than just cell phones can access the Internet.
Question: Will they still blame pirates when it comes to people continuing not to buy CDs? Or is this actually going to bring in profitable revenue for the music companies?
I've never been clear on Hulu's business. Or is this why they have twice as many commercials during a show as when one watches something on Comcast's On Demand service?
Not always an option. Maybe you can pay an employee 2 or 3 hours of overtime for the night (or maybe even the next few nights), but that doesn't necessarily mean that you can hire on another body for 8 hours a day at the same pay that the rest of the team makes. Also, when budgets and stuff get divvied up and salaries for the current chunk of time get settled, you don't necessarily have anything left with which to pay another employee.
And when checking this idea against my mom, who has a Master's degree in Business Administration, she pointed out that benefits packages also need to be considered. It's not just salaries and hours; it's a whole new employee that you're talking about here.
I don't think that matters much when it comes to declaring one computer or another to be a "netbook". A 12-inch screen is still blurring the line between netbook and notebook. I've got a Dell Vostro 1320, and it has a 13.3" screen. That's not that different. Why is my laptop considered a notebook computer, while a 12" screen makes another computer a netbook?

Nope, I don't remember that. Might have something to do with the fact that I had pretty much just turned 12 and I was still in 7th grade at the time.
The video is actually fairly funny, heh the "never do it again".
"Also, you'll still have to take off your shoes."
That's ridiculous! What am I going to do with my shoes, attack the President of the United States? Don't be absurd!
You're pretty dumb for someone getting a PhD.
Because "getting a PhD" == "being an expert in everything"
Except for the part where it doesn't. It's more like "being an impressive expert in one field"
Did you even bother to figure out what the AC's degree is in? How do you the AC should know how to deal with something like that happening?

With headlines like this one, I give you my prediction for tomorrow:
Headline on 2010-02-03: "Scientists find cure for erectile dysfunction."
The Sabbath is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.
Moses could totally have gone to Sunday School.
In the end, they are so intertwined it's ridiculous to assume that you can do one without the other, but the idea that eating well will keep you in good health is hilarious.

I figured it was that "Drake Equation" thingy (along with the fact that there's no "Math" section).
I could be wrong, though.
Whats the news here? That MS complied to laws and judge orders?
If you're conforming to Slashdot's usual biases, then yes.
Hell, he doesn’t even have the memory leaks fixed, as there are tons of black holes where stuff just gets lost.
I thought that was /dev/null, rather than a memory leak.

What else can I Google for you today, feepness?
But what does this have to do with botnets? Don't allow strange things into your system or bad things will happen.
Impressive. A moral to the story, and one that's actually relevant to the article, at that.
This is why I browse Slashdot at -1. Sometimes, what gets modded down can be a good read, even if it's generally irrelevant to the article.
Just laws granting civil and criminal immunity to passengers and crew defending themselves on flights.
Breaking news: Self-Defense or defense of the life of another is a legally sufficient defense against murder/manslaughter charges.
Like TFS said: No earth-shattering revelations.

Oh, man, you guys had something special there.
We didn't even have computers to do all this fancy-pants work for us.
You guys were blessed with such incredible technology as the computer. Can you even fathom how you'd fare without it?
You can't polish a turd
What? I thought the Mythbusters proved that you can polish a turd.
