    The client will still be responsible for creating movement data (for example) and sending that to the server and the other clients, everyone will see what the cheater wants rather than what should actually happen. Roughly equivalent to weighted dice in your example.

    The higher pitch (both siren and scream) are omnidirectional from the point of view of the source, but are easier to pinpoint from the view of the listener.

    If this technology is getting implemented invisibly then why did it make front page news on slashdot?? Phail. Not even Echelon has been implemented invisibly.

    Being implemented invisibly doesn't mean it isn't publicized. For example, converting broadcasts to digital in the US is being implemented invisibly. (for those that already have cable or a digital TV)

    They wouldn't be using your money without your permission, by trying to play the song you'd be giving them permission. At least that's how their lawyers would probably argue it.

    Alternate explanation: People are getting stupider and thus are more likely to fully believe that the pills work, making the placebo effect stronger.

    The 'original' (as in, the ones used at the time the placebo effect was becoming known) placebos were sugar pills and so sugar has become associated with placebos as a result. Modern placebos are generally inert in the context of the study.

    I doubt you jaywalk nearly as much as you think you do. Jaywalking isn't simply crossing the street between corners, it's crossing the street between corners when there's traffic or crossing at a signaled crosswalk when the signal says don't walk. If you do jaywalk frequently, that is somewhat bad morally as you're irritating those around you for your own convenience.
    That said, you're right about there being a significant difference about morality versus legality and there seems to be a recent increase in laws that I would consider to go against morality.

    Although if you think about it, playing the DVD in order to record it with a camcorder requires decrypting it as well. If you can decrypt it to record it in that way, you can just take the video stream and record that instead.

    They were unable to find evidence because their researchers are lazy. Here, in just a few minutes, you've heard from two people who've seen arrows split. Visit archery forums and you'll find hundreds more.

    I've read the thread so far, did a casual search, can't find any evidence of a wooden arrow being split. I don't feel like searching any more so feel free to prove me wrong.

    I think so, but I don't think it worked for some reason. The more interesting bit was the simple technique that actually worked, holding a sheet up away from the body so it didn't get heated up and blocked the sensors.
