Perl 6 != Perl 5. They are two VERY different languages.
Then maybe they need to have two VERY different names. Have we learned nothing from the problems caused by Java and JavaScript? It's nearly 2010 and people still think those two languages have something in common with one another. Now we have two different languages with the same name. Did anyone think that that would not cause confusion?
Linux may not have any relevance to consumers in some products; but does the word itself carry a commercial stigma
Maybe it's a competitive advantage and they don't want to advertise all the details of what lets them produce a device cheaper and faster than their competitors. Really, the Linux community needs to stop seeing adversaries around every corner.
It's the advanced version of dig a hole and fill it in.
Two blonde girls were working for the county public works department. One would dig a hole and the other would follow behind her and fill the hole in. They worked up one side of the street, then down the other, then moved on to the next street, working furiously all day without rest, one girl digging a hole, the other girl filling it in again.
An onlooker was amazed at their hard work, but couldn't understand what they were doing. So he asked the hole digger, "I'm impressed by the effort you two are putting in to your work, but I don't get it... why do you dig a hole, only to have your partner follow behind and fill it up again?"
The hole digger wiped her brow and sighed, "Well, I suppose it probably looks odd because we're normally a three-person team. But today the girl who plants the trees called in sick."
The folks at The Register have gotten their hands on Sun's confidential roadmap from June
If it's confidential then the Reg shouldn't publish the details. Unless they want to give Sun's competitors a leg-up. I'm sure Sun's competitors marketing teams are happy to have this. [sigh]
The Razr was an innovative phone when it was released, no one else had a phone like it (similar to the iPhone when it was released).
Would you mind elaborating on this? I'm not familiar with the Razr and after reading the Wikipedia article about it, I don't understand what made it stand out. It seems to be the same as any other phone out at that time, near as I can tell.
It did take over 200 patches to get their code into reasonable shape, which is a bit excessive

If they do not show back up to claim this driver soon, it will be removed in the 2.6.33 release.
If the driver was in such poor shape and didn't follow the kernel coding guidelines, then how did it make it into the kernel in the first place? I was under the impression that the kernel maintainers had pretty strict guidelines about coding style and what is and isn't acceptable.
Yeah, on a system that's more representative of a server than the average desktop computer, performing tests that your average, non-programmer desktop user isn't going to perform. Let me know when he retests BFS on a netbook.
Doctorow is a fiction author. He doesn't have any qualifications to talk about computing any more than Rachael Ray is qualified to talk about electrical engineering.
The classic Open Source bug resolution: Works For Me, Fuck You Guys.
If full screen Flash video isn't working for you, take it up with the software vendor (Adobe). The Flash plugin isn't open source so no one can fix it but the author.
I'm tired of seeing this same cartoon in every slashdot story. In any case, full screen flash video works fine on my system. HP 6910p running Ubuntu 9.04.
It's unreasonable, I know, but so are our deadlines.
Then fix your deadlines. Use proper planning and communication. This "drop everything now and focus on me" attitude doesn't really work well inside of companies and certainly won't work well when you want something from some else outside of your company.
I think it could be a valid reason. Robocalls says something about the character of the candidate.
That was exactly my reasoning. I live in California where robocalls are only legal if they are introduced by a live person. The law applies to political calls as well. The calls I received were not introduced by a person. If the candidate will break the law to get into office, what will they do once they are in office.
After receiving three of these robocalls for the candidate over a week and a half, I called his local office and spoke to someone. I told them how disappointed I was with them robocalling me, told them that what they were doing wasn't following the law, and asked for them to take me off their call list. The guy on the other end started getting belligerent with me. That pretty much made up my mind not to vote for him.
Besides, the other candidate never called, but sent someone door to door. I had a nice chat in front of my house about the candidate and what their plan was were they to be elected. They never bothered me on the phone.
In a election last year for a state representative, I voted against someone because they robocalled me. Thankfully, they lost the election. I wrote to them after the fact and told them why I voted for their opponent.

Nope. I've been removing them with stylesheets for ages:

Because the project leader is Canadian. The lack of crypto export laws in Canada is just a bonus.

Does it work on AT&T's network?

That sounds like a problem with Ubuntu and not the filesystem. You might want to file a bug report.
Wrong. Microsoft sued first and TomTom responded with a countersuit.

They probably should have majored in marketing. That's the critical skill for making money from your music.
WOOSH! Right over your head.
What happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"?
Yeah, because locally hosted servers never have problems or downtime. [rolls eyes]
What is a 2P server?

Hans Reiser will be pleased.
