  1. nice troll, smitty on NASA Slashing Observations of Earth · · Score: 4, Insightful

Neither article quite says that some responsibility must fall to the administration's footdragging on global warming.
Can we mark a submission, as -1, Unnecessary Trolling?

  2. Re:Some people think bilingualism is bad on Bilingualism Delays Onset of Dementia · · Score: 3, Insightful

While your comment is an obvious troll, I'll bite. Americans assume that you don't need to be bilingual simply because if you speak English, you DONT need to be bilingual. You can travel in the entire UK Commonwealth, the US, most of western Europe and Central America, and get by with English. It's the language of the Internet, it's the language of business. A German friend works for a Japanese country (in Germany) - what do they all speak? English. It's not the US' fault that it speaks one of the world's most popular languages.

Given the strengthening Euro, the nationalization of private property occurring in Central and South America, and an America lost in a sea of moral and scientific relativism, how much longer are places like MIT going to be relevant? It's comforting to think that there will always be a place for MIT, but isn't the writing on the wall?

You're claiming Nihm Chimpsky is a "luminary"? And you have a livejournal account? YOU, my friend, are the reason that America will collapse, hopefully a day after I keel over. Then you, and your children, and all the other jerkoffs can reap what you've sown.

  8. Hyperbole? on Doomsday Clock To Advance · · Score: 5, Insightful

So you have 12 hours to work with, and you start off at 17 minutes to midnight? Seems like a case of hyperbole to me - in that scale, the world is ALWAYS about to blow up in a nuclear war, so it quickly loses its impact.

It's like holding the stupid "threat level" at yellow or orange for a long amount of time, eventually people accept it and begin to ignore it.

This type of niche is best filled by an appliance, with real HW. Wait, that means it will cost money, which puts it out of the niche market.
