ok, I won't say " Imagine a Beowulf cluster of these!" No , seriously, the thing runs Junos , which is a highly modified FreeBSD-based *nix-like OS. I work for Ericsson and we bought them in 99 and now (due to cust-cutting) we're gonna sell our shares in Juniper. Wise choice, isn't it?
Uhhm, I travel quite a bit and it's usually the 1 hour drive to the airport, 2 1/2 hours of checking in and boarding. Another 1/2 before the pane actually takes off. A nice, tiring 12 hour flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow. Another 1 1/2 of running around frantically to make the connecting flight to some other European country. Another 3 1/2 hours to destination counrty (Sweden, Ireland or whatever). Then it's waiting for baggage / getting forex and taxi and about 1 1/2 hour before you get to the hotel with jetlag and in a state of serious sleep depravation. That's 22 1/2 hours later! Then you fall down and sleep and the next day your mailbox is flooded with urgent messages from the previous day.The trip back is the same siHt! I for one would like e-mail access on the plane. I just think that it's a Major security risk!
I live and work for a telecoms co in South Africa, but have been to Tanzania (mid-eastern Africa) twice recently and I have seen this. These people still have to battle for basic survival , but they're being exploited in all possible ways by the UK, Japan and even the US. They pay more for their mobile calls or internet access than most other countries. And like the article say: Ussually the costs get shared between connecting telco companies, but that is not the case there. That is really terrible.
Ooooh! This is a lot of fun!

hehehehe (giggling homer-style..) I just installed it and I'm submitting every page on Micro$oft.com. As soon as I get tired, i'll just uninstall it again. Sure hope it doesn't check MY HD though!
Is it just me or does that little C64 perform better than a NT server running IIS? I'm sure it will stay up for longer as well... Let's count the security holes... This is really funny! Then again: The OS on my mobile phone is more reliable than NT. Oh, ok, we are talking about the C64 right? Wow, it's smaller than a NT server! Oops, here I go again.
Oh, welcome on board sir. This wonderful figure is your yearly salary! So, don't even think about those other offers from other companies because we start you out on a bit lower salary and increase it every couple of months. Now , what we won't tell you that this is TOTAL COST TO COMPANY. That means that this is the maximum amount of money that we will spend on you in a year. So, from that figure you can deduct income tax, medical aid, retirement fund, 13th check and maybe even training. So, what you have left (if any) will be devided into 12 months and that will be your true monthly salary. Oh Shit! They got me again, those Corporate bastards!
Well, things work a little bit different over here. Here you are driving along in your mid-range car (because if you buy the top of the range it could be stolen within hours after you drove it off the showroom floor, but anyway...),
You have your top-of the range alarm/immobilizer installed. You have satelite tracking installed. The next moment when you stop at the traffic light, some guy walk up to you and FIRST shoot you in the face, then tell you that he is taking your car while throwing your limp body on the pavement in front of everyone else around you.
Unfortunately a true story - it happens a couple of times a month...
Just buy an Engine Access Ramp from Ericsson and you can run DSL, ADSL, SHDSL, ISDN, normal POTS and whatever you like over copper, fibre or ether or any combination. The fibre could be run into the ANX and then DSL could be runover ATM all the way to the DSL/ADSL Nt on your side.
We are currently testing in South Africa.
I used to work for a small little ISP here in South Africa and we certainly provided excellent , personalized support on a daily basis with a good price. All our customers were very happy until our customer base got bought out by the local "Giant ISP"(M-Web)and all of a sudden the users started to complain to us about the bad service they're getting from the new owners. Well' it's a little more than 1 year doors and the big ISP lost most of the customers down the line. Our small ISP had to close its it bought from us. The worst part is that some of the customers blame us for selling them to the big ISP.
Shame on all those that thought it's a waste to put it as a headline. We all needed that to cheer us up and put a little fun in our day! I was one of the suckers that admired the graphics quality on the first 2 pics (although I couldn't quite figure the weapon out). Excellent! I wonder if there will be a cheatcode that will let you enter "student mode" and run around and do twice as much damage?!?!
