Just because someone freaks out over genetic (or cellular) modification doesn't mean they're out to get you or destroy the world. Relax - it takes time for people to get used to concepts and technologies that destroy their world-view, whether or not it's religious. Over time, I believe that most people will see these new medical technologies as good. There will always be naysayers, but without them who would keep the rest of us in check?

Good. PC (I'm including Apple, Amiga, Atari, C64, etc) gaming existed before the "Windows market". It did fine then - and there were arguably better games (how many times have you slapped down $50 for a Windows-based PC game that sucked?) in those times. PC gaming will live on, with or without the Hollywood (oops - err Dallas err Redmond) glitz.

When you _have_ to work with closed systems and proprietary hardware/software - and those same systems are fairly expensive - you do want to use tech support. Also, when something goes wrong and it is obviously the vendor's fault, you want to call on the vendor to solve the problem - that's why you paid a few thousand for the stupid support license (that you were forced to by from them).

Not all support questions can or should be solved by the "books with black&white drawings of animals on the front covers."

With RedHat 7.1 the level of security you have depends solely on what installation method you choose - workstation, laptop, server, or custom. Workstation and laptop are much more secure than any previous RedHat release - there is no inted.conf or too many extraneous services (you should always check those, though), unless you specify certain packages installed (ftp, finger, etc). That combined with the (apparently - just got the box delivered) easy install/setup of iptables (strict as default - especially with desktop/laptop install) makes this look much more appealing than all previous RedHats. That being said - there's probably something that they seriously fscked up on.

Why do people consider "gesturing" a good user interface? It adds more work to already tedious processes and completely ignores any strides made in UI regarding access for those with disabilities. Should we really be tied even more to the mouse? I would like to know the benefit of having a non-visual work-intensive UI versus a visual efficient (less mouse movement and quick/hot-keys) UI. I played Black & White and I couldn't play it for long because of the UI - if I had known it would be like that I wouldn't have bought it. I'm already dealing with RSI and don't feel like having to move my mouse in circular motions repeatedly.
