I reported every single spam email I got to SpamCop for over 4 months, did the follow up confirmations and all. My spam intake went throught the roof in that 4 month period.
If you already know about Kazaa Lite, why would you be searching for it on Google? Why not just type the url and be done with it?
Aside from that, I'd guess that most people found Kazaa via download.com or by word of mouth, not through Google. We all love Google, but removing those urls isn't gonna slow Kazaa down at all.
Exactly. Once you're on the list, that's pretty much it.. no matter how the hell you got there, you're there, for good.
I had the unfortunate luck of moving a brand new domain I just purchased to a "new" ip address that was already listed there. I realized very soon I pretty much couldn't send mail from that IP cause of the stupid blacklists. Had to move elsewhere, eating all the setup and re-setup charges of the move.
I think it's best to run a local filter. Spamassassin is great.
Imagine that, a sensible idea to get the best of both worlds that doesn't involve putting a blanket ban on HTML mail.
Imagine how dumb you and M$ are.. That's about as useful a feature as the stupid "remove extra line breaks" feature Outlook has. If you think M$ gives a damn about your privacy you need to beaten with a cluestick. Any image can be used as a tracking device, it doesn't have to be a 1x1 pixel size image to track you.
If I want to view some html I'll open an web client, not an email client.
No, it will work much like iptables. You will provide it with a set of filter rules which it will enforce. Changes to the ruleset will not require kernel recompilation, only a reload of the filtering module or service.
The logic behind placing it directly in the kernel is the same as always, speed.
Why can't I use the one-partition hint with LFS builds with Reiser? LFS notes some weird kind of recursion error if a recursive mount is performed on the file system. So, as such I must use ext2 or ext3 when moving a new LFS into place of a canned distro.
REISERFS WARNING: If you're using reiserfs, this hint is almost unusable for you due to
deletion errors on a recursive mounted volume with reiserfs (the files
will be deleted, but the space wouldn't be freed). You could still use
the hint to make everything ready for a transfer using a bootdisk/CD,
but don't try the "Delete the previous System" section or further.
You've been warned!
I don't know much about file systems I admit, but I'd like to know about this one area where ext2 and ext3 have a additional feature Reiser does not.
the future server-side browser detection may be more about detecting whether the browser supports the DRM your "web service" uses than what version of Javascript or CSS the browser supports.
I doubt it.. seeing how most web pages are coded from html, javascript, and css, not DRM code. Only a small percentage of webpages have any sort of services built into them anyway. I'd say parsing the html will remain a high priority for web browsers for years to come.
HTML = webpage code, Browser = webpage client, did I miss something?
A friend sent me the link a couple weeks ago. That is some cool thought-provoking shit to watch.
Glad I saw it before the
Dear Mr. Szulik,
Have you tried Gentoo? It's a great distro.
Thanks,

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Finally I just gave up and stop reporting spam to them at all.
X10 popups are here to stay
Bah.. Google toolbar rules all.

Pretty soon AOL will have blocked all of it's lusers from the entire web.

I-R-C
I don't think crackheads would want to be associated with a bunch of scum bag liars like SCO.

Worst ISP.. ever
As a geek, if you don't already have your favorite roms and emulators burned to cd, you simply don't deserve to play the classics.
It's like second on the list right after the pr0n get's archived. Geez, what are you guys doing all this time?
Granted it's not any sort of official judgement, in my opinion this PDF pretty much sums it up.
It should take any doubt anyone has about not using Linux due to fear of owing SCO money.
This rocks, my favorite band Slayer didn't make the list.
No matter anyway.. as a loyal fan I own all their cds anyway.
What I get from this list is that as long as you don't listen to (c)rap you're all set.
Yeah, and what happens when you try to turn them off? They will think it's a possible attack and refuse to be shutdown.
Movies like the Matrix and T-3 come to mind. I think this is a bad idea.
Can you point me in the direction of some open source tools I can run on my Linux box so I can learn it? Thanks.
Sure thing..

I'm sure you being the uber-elite open source guru you are, you can google for plenty more.
Flash is a scourge, and so is Shockwave.
You have any idea why there aren't any cavemen around anymore?
There is nothing wrong with Flash, it's here to stay.. so deal with it.

Mandrake has already put the "2.4.21" kernel in their 9.1 release
This would not really be possible since 2.4.21 was only released today. Unless Mandrake has a time machine or something..
They may have released their distro with a heavily patched 2.4.20 or possibly a 2.4.21-rc*, but not 2.4.21.
Give them a full GNU/Linux install. It will include gcc, glibc, autoconf, etc..
Or you could make them build their own LFS system like I make my kids. Sink or swim I always say.

That means my already too high monthly rate of $75 is gonna increase by 9.1% more? I already pay too much as it is.
Hell.. I might as well spend a few more bucks and get a real T-1.
