I don't see how tweeting about the symphony while watching the symphony is a bad thing. you are reflecting on/discussing what is going on around you. how many people here have regularly attending the symphony? My wife went to IU music, played in symphonies for years, and we have been BSO season ticket holders for years so i speak with some knowledge here. The symphony does not require full attention. why do they give you the huge program full of info on the works, the performers, the hall, etc? to give you something to do. check out how many people are flipping thru it during the performance. we usually zoom out immediately at intermission to grab a few drinks (clearly not a help to sustained attention), after having a few before the show as well. i can easily listen to a work and pound out a few emails/tweets if i wanted to. that said, i'm not a fan of many of the contemporary works (legend of zelda, etc). sorry, just not my thing. imho. if it brings others though, no nuts.
Ignore all the "it doesn't matter what you look like" comments you are bound to receive on slashdot. Dress like the role you want next Yes, you can wear t-shirts and jeans and stay exactly where you are today. Dress like an adult. This generally means khakis and a button down shirt or polo shirt. Sure, sometimes you can slide in jeans, but have nice ones. No t-shirts. no sandals ever. go to jcrew, banana republic, etc. and stop asking slashdot for clothing advice
this is not accurate i burn 120 calories per mile run and run 8 miles in an hour, thats over 960 calories. i do this 5 days a week with a 16 mile run on saturday it is a great way to lose weight To truly lose weight you have to balance food eaten and exercise
My mouse use varies quite a bit from my mouse in my office, to my use of the Pointer Device on my ibm laptop to my home laptop with a touchpad. All yield very different mouse actions.
I also don't like these solutions that there are times when you want someone else to access your acct. For example, my brothers bank uses a validation system that measures how you type your password for an additional layer of security. My brother was in a situation where i needed to access his acct. he gave me the username and password but the damn system would not let me in since i type his password at a different cadence/pace/whatever then he does.
i guess i'm the odd man out...I found great jobs in my subject area. I worked for NeXT in the day and did DB work for a local dept. Both turned out to be great experiences, paid great, i got an office and the killer parking pass of my dreams (i literally double parked for semesters, it was crazy!).
the moral of the story, good jobs are out there, you just have to hunt for them.
So my brothers bank is using this already. He needed me (don't ask why) to login to his acct the other day. He gave me his username/password and the damn system wouldn't let me in as my cadence/speed of entry was wrong. This should be a second level of authentication, not the primary. I had the right u/p.
When I showed this to my wife she instantly had a real world example that this would have helped with. If you live in certain parts of the country, this will be much more helpful. When you cant-get-there-from-here, this additional functionality is quite nice.
I completely agree. I do the same thing the parent poster does (and presumably you do) and I hate that the from is from @gmail....If this corrects that alone, I'll go for it.

Except Slashdot or course. the ultimate time waste....
Not true. Some babies need to learn how to use a nipple. Some just know. Minutes after birth my son was up and sucking. Takes after his old man that way. Got to be proud....Some kids get it, some don't.
me too
anyone have a good suggestion for a replacement
i would love one that also supports iphone, ipad, etc.

Is there a way to prevent the effectiveness of a taser? i really don't know.
i assume you saw the ID of 53 a few lines above. 53.....now thats low.
1227 is truly impressive

These types of solutions are problematic.

these things all suck.
if you held any of those devices in your hand you will immediately see the difference. i have used all of those. they are night and day from the ipad.
really? still same old jokes???
lame....

i've had 4 sonos ZPs for a few years now. It's so worth it.

This is where boston steps in. The colleges are clearly available (MIT/harvard/tufts/bu/bc/etc), the tech companies, and the culture....
the little 5 racers are definitely not drunk though. they are serious bikers...the fans are drunk, at least I always was.
when you compare this though to X10s failure rate, which seems to be about 1 in 10, these would rock. They are MUCH more expensive though.
As for the AC, the idea is to use a sensor to measure temp vs. turn on AC from 1:00 to 3:00. See http://www.smarthome.com/3045B.html
I know George, he is a good guy and was very likely kidding....cut him some slack...
That's great! Thanks. Next time, lets try it without the attitude though. Just not necessary. And uncool.

I do, I do. I had to do it once in scouts...(wow, even for slashdot that sounds geeky). here is a URL to the process http://www.inquiry.net/outdoor/skills/seton/rubbin g_fire.htm
I would end with, it's hard, real hard. took 8 hours the day I did it...
