  1. Poor kid on Slashback: Railing, Blocking, Scoffing · · Score: 2, Interesting

    That poor star wars kid...

This reminds me of this one Bloom County comic:
Opus the penguin was listening to headphones and playing air guitar. There he was twirling and spinning and sut in general jamming. Then he turns around and ALL the other charachters are watching him and the rabbit has a lighter lit up in mock praise of the performance.

This is a bit more than his friends seeing it, but still, being morbidly embarrassed is nothing to sue over.

Anybody else been noticing a general contempt for the general population from the telecoms?

  10. Xbox can run in High-Def on Doom 3 Minimum Specs Revealed · · Score: 1

I think you're forgetting that the Xbox can run in High-Def.

Nope I didn't forget, I just thought it was irrelevant. Not many games support it and not many people have hi-def TV's. Until hi-def tv's come down to a reasonable price, not many people will buy them. I mean sure they're cool and all, but for $2500 I might as well just buy a spiffy keen new computer with a new 21 inch monitor and play the PC version of Doom III.

  11. Re:Xbox version... on Doom 3 Minimum Specs Revealed · · Score: 3, Interesting

Oh yeah, it'll look fine on the Xbox.

You don't have to do any anti-alaising due to how tv's work.

You only have to run at around 640x480 (actually less than that, but it's a good rough estimate)

only have to run at 30 fps, cause that's all a TV can handle

It's a set hardware standard. Carmack said if he has a set HW standard, he can sqeeze 50% more performance out of his engines by hard coding to that set HW spec.

on the back there will be a couple more usb ports, a few firewire ports.
Also on the back will be VGA out, TV out and the sound outputs.
maybe there might be a 10/100/1000 ethernet port on the back too.

There will be no internal HD, CD/DVD/Writer or floppy drive. Everything will hook up through usb and firewire.

I'm thinking the cpu will be underclocked until they don't need a fan in there

But i think that was before they took into account the powersupply. These things suck power and their supplies are large and bulky, and there really isn't any wa around that. Well, I think that NASA guy has a good idea. You could just beam the power to it. If you know the op0erating parameters antennas can be very efficient, you could keep all the bulky power generation on the ground and use a microwave beam to power the craft. How cool would THAT be?
