My guess is that they are itchin to get DirectX implimented on a terminal service. then they can set the X box up as a terminal for a hub computer.

Personally I like terminal service style computing, but not at the expense of flexibility like running Linux on a winpc.

Asus and many others already do this, it's called dual CPU motherboards. if you want 2 environments, VMware is out and MSoft is planning a similar software built in.

I thought about this myself, not impressed with it's technical feat, I choose to just run a 2ghz machine and a dual monitor system.

Usefull if you can't afford/aquire another case, but I can't see how this changes the world any more than putting a computer in a 1920's taster case (which I'm trying to do now anyway). I hope I don't wind up on slashdot frontpage.

Everyone is just scared to lose a fistfull of cash to a card. Personally I'm glad to see money gone, and this solution sounds more anonymous than whats ALREADY in place.

Now everyone SHOULD be worried about total anononimity. Having BOTH methods in place is good. If I was to lose the card with my paycheck on it, I'd be pissed. of course if I wanna go buy something I wouldn't be proud of or if it's personal, Then I will use a card like this. This is the ONLY way to make it work because everyone will not accept a debt card society.

Honestly I don't know what I'd go and buy that I was sensitive about to the point that I'd need this card (hell I buy crap at the Adult superstore in vegas on my debt card.), but it's good to know it's there...like payphones(whats that?).

Is this even the best way to acheive this result? I have done research, and implimentation on making computers user-friendly to the blind. I consider a driver blind because except for the momentary glance, there should be NO visual interaction.

Software like Dragon naturally speaking are the best I've found for speech in and out (they do call for a headset). but you can use your favorite flavor of recognition and text-to-speech.

For input, wouldn't it be easier/safer to just mount buttons on the steering wheel? half the cars out already have stereo controls there, why not back, forward, and Read that?

I'm personally building this type of interface for my car, I would NEVER consider using a wired glove (tangle in gearshift) or for that matter a headset (illegal in most states anyway). a reasonably quiet car can handle a mic on the dash and a laptop.

-subnote: seems headphones ARE illegal in California but not utah, figures. I guess drivers can't get any worse here, even with headphones.

In some circles, it makes it easier to make interactive systems, due to understanding the way the mind works. I remember a story long ago about how Icons help us relate to the programs on our desktops, thus improving effeciency and accuracy.
This is an unnderstanding of the human mind that was generally accepted but not pointed out. after that, we see Gnome, win desktop, and other modern interfaces.
