I've been using KDE4 since the earlier versions, and I'm pleased with it. It even has options on how you want your workspace to be, if you want desktop icons, panels, widgets, etc. I haven't use Gnome 3 or Unity enough to comment on them, but KDE has been good to me and I have had no needs beyond it
President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, also met with Stallman a few months before getting on power, and had announce also a switch to open source platform for all government agencies in Ecuador. Along with Peru who was the first to begin a switch to OSS, seems like Latin America could be a region that will be moving to OSS in the next few years
If I could drop an application CD in a Linux system and install a Windows app with minimal fuss
I don't think that is the way to go... different OS, different binaries... is like if we say that people will use mac only because they can run Windows app on mac??? well, they can't unless they use an emulator/vm/dual boot so why does linux has to worry about that? what we need is people looking outside the "established" software apps, MSWord is not the only word processor and MS Excel is not the only spreadsheet out there, OOffice is an option for those, but not the only one either.
but then you have been *avoiding*, why somebody who has been able to avoid it (there are windows machines and you could have been tempted) wants to rush (suddenly) to get his hands on the very same OS he's been avoiding? I would give my doubt on the origins of the article.
Another fact is how Apple have gained space on the server market which is in big part due to its software and the rest of products/services running on top of it (postfix/squid/apache), Apple now feels that their OS is secure and solid, and still functional for regular users, why would they want to switch to an OS know for problems they have "solved" now?? people will just not buy their machines.
There is also the fact that it is technically illegal to run MacOS on non-apple machines... if they switch os, what's the "legal" point of buying a mac??
It depends what you do. On my turion ML37 with low load it doesn't go up so much.. probably it gets up to 50, but everytime I compile or actually use the cpu, it blows up to maybe 70... Still, no complains, eventhough I still think I should have got the 8 cell battery at least...
I agree.. there is no proof that computer can damage your vision, in fact, in my close family, I'm the only one who does not need glasses, and I'm the only one spending more than half of the day (24 hour period) in front of a computer...
About special glasses, I asked a doctor about those, he told me they are just BS, so I guess is just preconditions you have... maybe some things can help get the problem worst, as if you make your eyes work too much, say low light conditions, or too bright (I guess)
Not everyone is as into optics and cameras as you are.
if you are going to spend 1K on a camera... you have to know a little bit at least...
Anyways, sony lenses are not that bad. Personally, I will compare what are you getting on that camera compared to other at the same/similar price. For example you can get decent slr cameras for around the same price, and there is not where this camera fails.
The lenses are not so close... there is an adapter you can use and extra lenses/filters to match (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscr1/). I still think, as most of sony products, it is too pricy for what you get.
yeah... it sucks not to have interchangeabel lenses... if you just start on photografy is fine.. I've had my Fuji finepix S5000 for some more than a year... it was great to start and learn the concepts, but I've come to a point where I really want to get more control than leaving it all to the camera, and be able to focus better depending on what I'm takig picture of...
when I was in a presentation by a M$ bussiness man... he was talking about the *new* and *futuristic* new look for next versions of windows... this was about 2 or 3 years ago... he was talking about translucid terminals and windows... I still haven't see those on windows yet, but while he was talking I had in my mind some gnometerminals moving around a windows desktop...
Are these guys ever going to actually create something new and stop announcing very old things as new innovations (not to mention when they invented symlinks... I still get a smile when I remember it)
Who said they can't run both protocols? you can set your servers to IPv6 and then clients running IPv6 can access the server withouth IPv6-to-IPv4 routing, and you will still be able to serve IPv4 clients, as clients keep switching to IPv6 it will be transparent to those users.
Not only those. The best thing I find about comp sci is that it can be nicely combined with pretty much everything from the "big sciences" to arts or any other thing.
It would depend on what you want to do, in my case I would go for masters/phd since i want to go into academia and research. if you are interested in bussiness or the corporate I guess an mba would be a good option.
Pretty much looks like my desk... I have almost the same programs you mentioned running all the time, and i have a linux and a macosx running pretty much the same. the big difference between the two, is the ui, I dont get to be completely comfortable on aqua, while using any of fluxbox, e, or windowmaker on linux I feel very confortable. I used to run freebsd on the linux box, but switch back to linux just because I wanted to play around with gentoo.

From the article and experience...

sign up method if you don't get an invite.
That will be till they keep it as beta, until that, is not something they will just put into the masses, is my guess
No, it was not to use goto on C, for gosub, I was told not to use basic at all
If you've read TFA
Do you really think anybody will do that?? not even the editors.!
because of the video card... maybe if the use at least a decent nvidia with 512MB video card they will make it to 1024x768 (at most)

wasn't this done like 3 or 4 years ago with sircam???
that's why I use fluxbox or e16 in all my boxes
