I didn't say they exagerrated or anything. I said they left out facts and they did. It's like me saying i saw john kill joe but leavinging out the fact that joe was about to kill jake. Both statements are true, but context is important here obviously. In one sentence he's a bad guy, the other he's defending someone else. This is what michael moore has did with bowling for columbine and i assume he did it with his new one as well.
this administration has completely abused our faith and apathy.
ours? who is ours? you and people who agree with you? sure. But many people disagree with you completely. I believe that he is doing things because he thinks they are the right thing to do. I haven't seen any lies that bush has used. I've seen plenty of people claim he's lied, but haven't backed up those claims at all, or atleast with evidence that was relavent and not easily disproved.
But go on living in your fantasy world that michael moore is a saint or whatever you want to belief. Michael Moore has made his fair share of money off of Columbine and now 9/11 by lying and decieving. Well i haven't seen farenheit 9/11, but he did seem to already start off on a bad leg by stealing his title from Fahrenheit 451. And according to Ray Bradbury, Michael Moore lied to Ray Bradbury as well. An update to that article, apperently moore never contacts Bradbury after saying he would. Another Lie? go figure.
Funny thing about this moderation is/. is basically doing what it decries people like bush for doing. Pot meet kettle.
wow what a game. It's like michael moore's films, much easier to get a point accross when you ignore facts that go contrary to what you want everyone else to believe.
hooah to that. I love sports illustrated, unfortunatly since i moved into a dorm for college my mom canceled the subscription, but i plan on getting a new one when i move out. I have two favroite journalists, one's Dave Barry and the other is Rick Reilly. That guy is awesome, always read SI back to front because of him.
dunno i haven't seen any 800k. Dunno if there's a way to check or anything like that. I hope we get to 1M and they become common soon so i have a respectable amount of digits in my UID:)
If the parents don't care and want to expose their children to life's harsh reality, who the fuck does the state think it is to tell people how to raise their kids?
Yer right, it's not right that state will interfere when someone beats their kids. Or molests them or whatever. If that's how they choose to raise their kids. THe state has EVERY right to interfere if it is harmful for the kids. Argue the point that porn may or may not be harmful to kids if you will, but the state certainly has the right too.
Because i like it better, I know gasp gasp. It's faster(flame away with all the usually anti-ms bs, but everything about IE in windows is faster than firefox is on my machine) plus everythign is designed for it. It's kind of like how people say linux is so much faster than windows. Well you can tweak the hell out of it for sure, but a default install comparing windows xp and redhat and suse, windows is faster, runs faster and smoother(again in my case). ALl of this would however, be trivial if i could run games on linux. America's Army works nicely on my linux partition, and so does teamspeak with it, but other than that? tuxracer? which runs better under windows than under linux again. I love linux and OSS, but the biasedness that so many people around here have against closed source is incredibly ignorant of reality. And btw, something being generally better is an opinion, not a fact. Atleast at this point.
I'm a Canadian. I'm just curious what your reaction would be if someone in Canada made a game that depicted a revolution against a tyranical US President (just for argument's sake let's say George W), and put you in the role of a terrorist/revolutionary?
I'd laugh, if it was good i'd play it.
Or how about a game that let you play as Osama Bin Laden. How do you suppose Americans would like the game? Would there be a public outcry? Would the government try to censor it?
Well i wouldn't play that. Maybe i would 30 years down the line after al-queda and osma are ashes of corpses. But I doubt the government would censor it, i bet what would happen is that retailers would refuse to sell it because of fear of backlash. Some government officials, however, might decry it. IMO that is exactly how it should happen.
Every day I send her news articles about the rights of US Citizens evaporating like cheap perfume. She's scared to travel to her home country anymore, and wouldn't, if it weren't for her remaining family and friends state-side.
I know because canada is problem free... please. Different set of problems, not as publicized though, so whatever. Keep living in make-believe land that canada is so superior to the US in terms of it's civil liberties. ANd your wife is scared of going to the us? Scared of going to the US because of lack of civil liberties? right... i dunno what you're smoking(or your wife), but it's something good (Prolly what most of/. seems to smoke)
scary as hell? what? this law, according to previous posters, is already in effect in canada. ANd this law is so big.. i mean there's a crime and a cop thinks i might be involved and he can now ask my name? holy god almighty not my name! I don't have to have id or anything, he can just ask for my name.. Call me a neo-con but i think that is quite resonable.
That said, the article -- while scary as hell -- just seems like small fries now. I wasn't aware American citizens really had any rights left after W got through with them.
Yeah that's right. Everyone blame our president for problems which we don't even have except in the minds of some people who take something like this and make it into a 'we have no civil liberties anymore' argument.
Actually I've crossed the border a few times, the US side asks me some questions and lets me on my way, I believe they take a picture of the car and license plate but i dun't recall them doing that even. THe canadian side asks me similiar questions, types stuff into the cmputer (I believe it's our responses but I really don't know that even) and takes a picture. Of course i'm a US citizen so it might be different for a canadian or especially someone from another country, but i don't think it's much different. I will say tho, the canadian police have been a bit nicer, fitting right in with the stereo typical canadian, which is about as accurate as it is with a us citizen.
One thing that's nice about/. is i can read articles like this, then the posts, then i can return to the reality that i ahve a good life where i'm as free as i should be.
The "support the troops" slogan is meant to deflect attention from the reasons the troops are there in the first place. Looks like you fell for it.
Maybe, maybe not. You have no idea what it was created for, you just have ideas. And I suppose because I agree with the President that I fell for it? Please. There are many reasons to do what we did. Maybe they were/are not worth the cost of lives that have been lost, but I think they will be.
Why does this crap get modded interesting? THere's nothing factual about his post, it's just garbage that sounds about right to those opposed who the war. Why not post some real reasons, of which there are plenty, instead of trying to connect people who support it to being wrong or immoral or dumb enuogh to fall for a slogan.
I think you are grossly underestimating many of the athletes. I mean you know how much Michael Jordan worked to get where he was at? Losers? well ok. How dare they excel at something many people like to watch and do. You don't have to like what they do, or like them, but that's no reason to dismiss them like you do.
As for the original statement, yes it is true that most BSD users (pick any of the BSDs) prefer not to be associated with Linux and avoid Linux users. Don't take my word for it, read the archives for any of the BSD mailing lists.
Right. This certainly represents their users. If you get them out of the enviroment where BSD is god, then they become much more humbled and realistic about BSD and Linux and Windows and everything.
Your last comment about "a win for..." is exactly the difference between Linux and BSD. Linux is trying to "win" something (so far as I can tell, it's putting Microsoft out of business and pissing on the ashes).
What/ linux isn't trying to win anything. Redhat is. Suse is. Mandrake is. Linux is pretty much doing what you claim BSD developers are doing.
Americas army also runs quite well in linux, assuming you have your vid card setup properly.
Nope, many of the maps do not have arabs as the terrorists. I dunno how many are vs how many aren't, but i'd guess about half.
If you don't know what this post is about, Go here and move your mouse over e-mail.

My point is that the Internet is killing the newpaper/magazine industry. It's only us, the geeks, for now, but it is surely going to spread.
Yeah well video killed the radio star..

lol please do. Offtopic, highest UID i've seen, wonder when /. will hit the 800k mark if it hasn't already
maybe Bill Gates will be interested in this more than /. apperently is.

Babylon 5 is/was so superior to anything in the StarTrek universe
Pssst that's an opinion.
therefor your assertion that
that comparisons are meaningless.
It wrong.
Not to mention that something being vastly superior to something else, is not a valid argument for them being uncomparable.
Wow, a new low, to frail for gaming.
