If a user doesn't know enough to replace their web browser, I don't see how its MS's responsibility to notify them that there are better products available. This whole thing just seems like the developers of the "other" web browsers are upset that they invested time and money into developing software that most people just don't care about. If I were wrong, IE wouldn't have the marketshare it does.
You're not forced to use IE either, unless you lack a copy of another browser and need to use it to download one, which sounds like the same situation with Safari.
I imagine the IE install files will still be on your computer no matter what. I'd laugh if MS set this up to throttle your connection when you're trying to download one of the alternate browsers, with a message popping up every few minutes asking you if you'd rather go with IE instead.
I've never installed a Mac OS, so I'm curious: are you given the option to chose your web browser on installation of a Mac OS? I understand from benchmarks that Safari isn't nearly as terrible as IE is, however this issue isn't about browser quality but rather about MS "forcing" users into using IE. Seems to me if MS has to comply with this, Apple should be held to the same standard.
Similarly, if you have loud neighbors, you should just move and boycott the loud neighbors.
I don't think this analogy really fits; loud neighbors can affect your quality of life. If you are choosing to watch television, particularly networks that don't handle this issue on their own without government involvement, that is your choice; nobody is affecting your quality of life but you.
At least in capitalism each individual has the ability to create their own happiness; this is much better than the government or society keeping happiness away from everyone.
The thing is, as we don't care so much about how to properly feed, exercise and clean ponies, normal people don't care so much about computer security. They just want to do their thing.
So... are you suggesting that you just want to.... "do your thing" with a pony?
IMO Its better for your career (in the long run) and sanity to work in some hypothetical burger joint on $6/hr for a GOOD boss than somewhere on $60,000 for an asshole who won't let you get any useful experience under your belt or otherwise let you progress.
$6/hr really won't cut it if you have, you know, bills to pay or mouths to feed, and from my experience in high school, most managers at "hypothetical burger joints" are terrible bosses. At least working a "real" job for an asshole gives you something to put on your resume.
Most PC gamers I know don't tend to have lots of USB controllers lying around, because they prefer mouse and keyboard. Would you like to have 4 mouse/keyboard sets plugged in at once so you could do splitscreen?
Why spend money on PR to satisfy non-paying customers? You're wasting money so people who aren't paying you don't get mad, and everyone else can pretend like they're infuriated and will never touch one of your products again, but as MW2 has shown us, they'll all buy your AAA titles anyway.
It sucks for the players, but if they weren't generating enough revenue, EA sort of has no choice here.
Thank you for using common sense. So many people are getting irritated about a business no longer giving freeloaders the same priority as paying customers. This is ridiculous. You know how Valve keeps all their customers on the same level? Everyone pays to get in. A company that works for free won't be working for very long.
With MMOs, if they didn't charge you some sort of regular fee, they'd end up losing money on the game when 5 years and so many millions of dollars of maintenance and added content later, millions of people are still playing the game.
since they are no longer interested in making any non-trival (DS, DS Lite, DSi,...) changes to their existing outdated handheld gaming platform in more than 5 years since the original DS was launched in Nov 2004.
Actually it's pretty much been confirmed that Nintendo is working on a new handheld using Tegra technology.
Is anything the founding fathers said sacred anymore? We were also warned about maintaining public credit and the dangers of political parties, but obviously we ignored those warnings too.
Definitely. I'm all for police being equipped with pepper spray rather than tasers. I do know for a fact though that the chances of dying from being tased are low; every single Air Force police officer needs to be tased during their training so they can feel what it's like.
Why would you feel threatened by tasers? Legally police in the US need to be carrying a non-lethal weapon if they're armed, so they have options before handling their pistol.
A coworker sent me a link to the same story on Fox news, and the title of that one was "Iranian-Backed Insurgents Hack U.S. Drones."

That's why I usually install cygwin on my computers; I just can't get used to Windows' commands.

Please don't assume we are all that stupid...

For their own gain, and to piss of the British.

The Express Editions of their various Visual Studios are free, as is the XNA Studio add-on to Visual C# Express.

A very valid point; I apologize for not clarifying that I was referring to MMOs that require a full staff to maintain them.

I can't see this happening when they charge a ludicrous $5 for NES games, $8 for SNES games, and $10 for N64 games on the Wii's Virtual Console.

Yeah, like Chibi Robo! Oh... wait... that wasn't popular?

Many of those cases involved violence or aggression towards the offers that tased them. It's still a better option than being shot.
