    It's amazing to me that so many people just don't understand what a monthly budget is, and why it's important. Or wontingly try to destroy those who do have one.

    It's trained in them from all those house buying/remodeling/flipping shows. If I didn't know better I would almost says it's a conspiracy to ingrain in people that you should go over budget on houses. Of course, we went about 10k over budget on the house we bought almost 3 years ago but if we hadn't we'd be priced out of our area (the house has gone up about 40k in appraised value since we bought it which we wouldn't be able to afford now). But they are always pushing people to buy houses outside their budget.

    NO one likes to talk about the total cost and the actual "monthly affordability" seems too complex for people (failings of basic education). Monthly affordability should take into consideration things like "retirement funding", "living expenses", "annual vacation", "taxes", etc.

    When we bought my car a few years ago (new, but with an employer discount and a good trade-in) the salesman literally staggered back when we told him we wouldn't pay over $125 a month. It was actually mildly amusing to watch and how I am going to approach car buying from now on.

    They're owned by an analytics company. Remember the outcry when they said they wanted to start tracking you before and after the movie? That's their profitability, their end game. They want the data of date night. They hope they can then sell that data to theaters, restaurants, bars, etc. Fscebook uses the whole social aspect to bring people in to harvest their data. Moviepass' lure is the cheap movies.

    Since the Post Office receives zero tax dollars, I am curious who you think this "we" is.

    He probably thinks those contracts the USPS has with the US government are "subsidies". You know, we haven't heard about that in a very long time. I guess they were good deals after all......

    In a sane world, they would be finding them to give them a medal. If he could find those leaks, there's a good chance somebody else already had. And these days it seems the only way to get companies to acknowledge and fix leaks is to make them public, otherwise they get swept under the rug.

    On a side note, having a hard time seeing how this falls under the purview of ICE. And I'm sure the government will be going after the medical telemarketing firm for a breach of HIPAA

    Good. Those high paying reader jobs are high paying because of all the money they skim out of the market with HFT. The only value they provide is to the owners of the HFT trading houses. They provide nothing to society or to the greater economy.

    Now that I think about it, within about 5 miles of my house I have 3 Krogers, 3 Publix, Sam's, BJs, a new Costco opening up, 2 Aldis, Sproouts, Target, and 2 Walmarts (Target/Walmart I don't even consider "grocery stores"). And I am on the outskirts of a major metro area.

    They're caught in the middle of a waning UX experience they botched, along with a curb-side service that's killing them with overhead. They're raised prices far, far beyond inflation, and their customers know it, and are seeking alternatives in droves.

    In my area I have a Publix, Kroger, Sprouts, and Sam's. I'll go to Sam's for bulk meat and the cheap gas, but in general Kroger beats all of them price wise. Although right now they are reorganizing my regular store so it's almost impossible to find anything there.

  16. Slavery? I must have missed it where states with single payer healthcare were pressganging people into become doctors. If you are trying to argue it's slavery because it forces doctors to charge certain prices, well, then they are already slaves because they can only charge what's been agreed upon with insurance companies. All single payer does is eliminate the unnecessary middleman that is insurance companies.

    Don't give them ideas....

    I can see it now. Set up direct deposit with Amazon to have that money credited directly to your account. Use Amazon pantry for grocery/household goods. Pay for Amazon video rentals/purchases. Pay your rent with new Amazon Rents (if you decide to move you can even order/purchase your new home/apartment online!). The only thing better than locking employees into the company town/store is locking in non-employees.

    If you answer to a corporation and not your customers, it's a franchise.

    It's basically Amazon Avon.

    Don't forget saturation. Might actually be a decent gig if you are located in a high density area with a lot of Amazon orders and you are the only one within 10-15 miles. But what's to prevent Amazon from setting up 2-3 other franchises, er... "partners", within that same 10-15 mile radius?

    It's like the phrase "highly classified" - it means nothing. In the US something can be classified as confidential, secret or top-secret. There is no category "highly." So what is bank-grade? I mean, we're talking key size here, so just give us a number. And obviously the implementation is broken if human error can put the same key on different devices.

    Is that like the "military-grade aluminum" Ford has been advertising as making their trucks out of now? Does that mean they were made out of recycled beer and coke cans picked up in military bases from Bagram to Bragg?

    Sanders gets kicked out of a restaurant and now she's getting Secret Service protection. Meanwhile, in his campaign rallies Trump told people he would pay for the defense for any supporter who beats up and throws out a protester (fun fact: he didn't). Trumpers (it's not even fair to call them Republicans) demand civility towards Trump but don't demand or expect civility from him or themselves in return.
