Chocolate covered coffee beans and a dash mounted espresso machine...
I wonder if his cockpit will look like my car after a long drive - empty cups and wrappers strewn on the floor with a pile of loose CDs on the passenger seat (he'll have to use the floor or the dash)...
Or at least credit. Just take the DVD back to Wal-mart or wherever you bought it and say that you want a refund, not a replacement. If they refuse, ask for a credit. Just say that the disk is damaged/broken or similar and they WILL allow the refund.
I've done this on quite a few occasions with no problem. As long as you insist for long enough they will give in.
Just be nice when you're talking to them it and it'll go fine.
Social Engineering can bypass these issues (even if you have to go up a level or two).
Put a nice pile of thermite on the top, added a bit of sugar as a fuse, and then dripped a bit of conc. sulphuric acid onto the sugar to light it...
I positioned the pile right on the edge, so it melted the top of the case and then left some trails of molten iron down the side. It looked very cool.
We also found that using a small amount of pseudo-thermite (thermite with a lot of magnesium filings) we could draw on the sides of cases pretty effectively...
I've managed to burn myself with one of the Nescafe self heating coffees in the UK (although it wasn't the coffee itself - it was a chemical burn from the heating element being perforated).
I wonder how long it'll be before we see the first American sue the company for manking their coffee heat up too much?
I wonder what warnings they'll be putting on the US versions of the cans?
I find my powerbook (Al 15) generally makes it for about 2.5 - 3 hours on a single charge, and that's with fairly heavy disk use and the occasional CD/DVD burn. I tend to carry a second battery because the batteries for these powerbooks are pretty light so it doesn't really add to the weight much...
I've heard that the iBooks do better on battery than than the Al Books do, but I prefer having the extra screen space and the shininess...
I'm also looking for a good flexible solar panel to go with my powerbook as I spend a fair amount of time in places with no regular electricity and rechanging off an inverter is a hassle, especially if someone wants to take the vehicle off with them (a separate battery sort of defeats the point of portability for most uses).
As an aside, I had an 8 year old Toshiba Satellite that (up until I gave it away to the charity I was working for) got over 2 hours on a charge, and I found it in a skip...
Via an Iridium satellite phone... Slow connection, but just good enough to use. we mostly used it for email though as the price was a little steep per minute on the contract we were using...
The beach was in a remte corner of Madagascar and the sat phone was our only reliable link with the outside world - the only other way was by radio which worked on good days but tended to be like a game of chinese whispers with the messag that finally arrived being more than a little garbled...
If you love the Hitchhiker's 'trilogy' then this is a really good read as it's a collection of the Douglas Adams' work through his life plus the first 9 (Ithink) chapters of the book he was writing when he died... Some great little passages, especially the one about tea...
I'm heading off to live a long way from everywhere for about 6 months and I was wondering if anyone felt like adding a list of their top 10 all time books to this discussion as I might need a little assistance on picking six months worth of reading at once...
I'm already taking the HHGTG and my Neil Gaimen books so...
I'm sorry, I've had to live in Oxford for a good proportion of my life and I just can't sit by and listen to this shit.
I agree, the UNIVERSITY has some nice buildings, and the debating chamber in the union is very nice, but most of Oxford is a complete shithole. I can understand people coming here and seeing the pretty bits and thinking the city is great, but live here for a while, and I think you'll see what I mean...
This isn't a troll or a flame - this is my honest opinion which I have built up over the last 20 some years I've been here
I've now moved to www.burningplastic.net , and I'd appreciate comments about the site as it's a work in progress and I need to get some pressure or pointer to keep it moving...\\Thanks...

AFAIK, the BBC have copyrights in the US as well as the UK, so even if the UK copyright wasn't an issue, the US one would be...

You also need a large can of pink paint or something else to make the object truly abnormal before a SEP field will work properly.
Having a spaceship that looks like a small upended Italian bistro is a good start...

Don't network your house like this - you're just making it more vulnerable to an attack by the Cylons!

Yay!
I've probably missed it in the time it has taken me to type this, but...
These were done a long time ago. Have a look at them on www.applefritter.com in the hacks - custom desktops section.
The posting dates are the dates for the redesign of the site, not the mods themselves, so please don't mod me down for that...
