Oh don't worry, we humans have infinite capacity to come up with new insults, so we'll just ratchet up. so instead of calling someone an asshole you'll call them a cum guzzling fucktwit, that's all.
At the same time, consumers should learn to always ensure Autorun is disabled, and scan any device for malware before they use it on their computer."
Seriously?
It's getting to the point where running a computer is turning into a full time job. I need to scan every single product I buy before using it? Isn't that why I bother to pay a premium to get name-brand products from legitimate outlets?
I'm annoyed that the ultimate time-saving device is becoming more and more of a chore. I'm expected to spend hours researching the ways in which to harden my browser against cookie tracking, to rate virus scanners using contradictory and confusing standards, to assess information that requires a degree in computer science everytime I want to get a PC game to work, to pull out my law degree everytime I use an online product or dive through an EULA, and now this?
I mean come on, where's it going to end? Should I do independant surge tests on the next microwave I buy before plugging it in? What about my printer, does it need a scan too? Should I take my newly purchased tires to an independant assessor? How about that new CD I bought?
I hate to be a buzz kill here, but it has been this way a long long time. Sure 15 years ago it wasnt as common, but if you really got a floppy disk from a friend and didn't scan it, you was asking for a virus. EULAs have been around in some form just as long. Quite honestly computer users who feel as you do, that dont take the responsibility of using a computer serious (yes I said and meant responsibility) cause a shit-load of problems for others. These systems was created to be simple stupid and now you have a stupid problem. If, however, people had bothered to really learn a PC, learn to setup programs/games, learned security like many of us did before it hit the fan then we might have had a market driving for use/security instead of use/stupidity.
To bad I won't be buying from this franchise again. They already screwed themselves over with COD MW2, and I've no faith that activision won't pull some douche move later on after they release the game.
My exact thought. No matter what a game from Activision would have at release, they have proven they cant be trusted. What will it have a month after release? Who knows.
DSL works well. It's 50 MB, can boot off a USB flash stick, and comes with its own virtual environment for running within MS Windows. It's probably missing a few features you will want for teaching a course in Linux, though.
I also like Puppy Linux. I was able to make an MP3 player out of a small thin client computer and this OS. I just had to modify a few shell scripts, and plug the TC into my home stereo.
Have these scientists contemplated what could happen if these created creatures escape into the wild breeding amongst themselves and/or other similar species.
Whole ecosystems can be destroyed by introducing one creature into them.
You know, this argument is getting old for me. Anything that could progress human knowledge is looked down on anymore with an excuse like this one. I for one want to see real scientific advancement. I want genetic research on ALL levels. Lets bring back species that was destroyed by man, lets cure cancer, lets do SOMETHING.
A day will come when advancements in medicine/science will be had and everyone will then wonder why we waited so long.
What about if it may save many human lives? Cosmetic testing is probably not as bad as drug/vaccine/antibiotic testing or general research, which can be pretty horrific and is pretty much guaranteed to cause great sufferring, but all those things are fundamental to our ability to save many people.
The world would be much worse for us without medical research, but it does create what might as well be factories of suffering for lab animals. They even breed lab animals specifically with the worst genetic diseases, which would be the ultimate cruelty if it didn't bring the possibility of future cures.
Fuck these people. Damn dirty, no-good rotten, greedy, lifeless, soulless, talentless hack job bastards. Even the Wallstreet/Banker CEO pricks must stand in awe and wonder on how this bunch of pricks can make an extra dollar.

Just you fucking wait. We're half way to printing a Gallardo.
I will host the fucker. Gonna need a server than a car can sit on. Also a Ethernet to Tailpipe adapter.......
I have memorised a significant collection of porn sites over the years for "research". What happened to my brain?
http://kids.yahoo.com/ Be sure to still watch em. The internet can go from kids to adult in about two seconds.
I wasn't sure where to go bitch at. Appreciate the links.
Didn't they already kill Bin Laden in South Park?
Yep, in the Jersey episode I think.
Did they remember to grab the sticky note with the 128 bit key written down?
This was Navy Seals. They took the note, the wall it was on AND the asshole who wrote it.
Does it have Linux on it? --no--> Install Linux. Is Linux installed? --no--> Modify Linux until you can install it. ----> Install Linux.
It's Linux. Installing it is always obvious.
Why is it I always agree with posts modded Funny?

Mod this fuckhead up.
Same, only game I didn't buy from them in a long time was Torchlight.
I even had my son always look there first when he got bored and wanted a new game. dammit.

After what happened to wardriving be sure you legally have your butt covered. Especially if you prove the network sucks >.>

Exactly what I was thinking. This too http://tinycorelinux.com/ I run it on my PII.
I doubt it. Mozilla may be the first to tell you to upgrade to a current version.
And everyone lets out a collective exhale "Finally".
FINALLY
... does not mean you should.

Hard not to be conflicted about it I think.
Better them than me.
See how easy that was :)
Glad to hear NYCL. Whenever I want to find out what is up with the RIAA, I go to you first. You do a great job and please keep it up :)
Yes I can.

Same for me actually.
You have to options: slap some reality into your users and put them in their place, or burn out. Your choice.
I love everythiung about this. The wisdom of the post. The fact its scored as informative. The use of "Fuck Em". I am LMAO
I love slashdot :)
