  1. SOPA and all the rest. on House Kills SOPA · · Score: 1

Sooner or later there will come a time when lobbying and sending letters will do nothing, when protests and rallies are worthless. At that time, the only way to change a politicians mind will be to scramble it with a bullet. We aren't there yet, but its going to happen sooner or later.
I've heard it said that Freedom can only be bought with blood. Really, it isn't a purchase but a rental. How long will it be until the rent is due again?

Very well. Then since you are advocating a wages model for application developers, I will concur with you. We calculate the wages due to app developers and they get that amount for their work. Lets say it cost a million dollars in wages to have a 10 man team develop an application. So, after a million dollars has been paid for that application in the marketplace, we should automatically reduce the price of that application to free. After all, we have now paid the wages of the developers for the time they spent developing the app. They have been paid exactly the same way the person flipping burgers has been paid.

Developers work along an entirely different compensation model. So do commission-only salesmen. Wages are not the only way to make money.

People make that choice every day. I've had to make that choice before. You obviously have no fucking clue what you are talking about. Medicaid only covers people up to 133% over poverty level. Lets look at poverty levels in the US
Size of Family Unit / Poverty Guideline (annual income)
    1 / $ 10,830
    2 / $ 14,570
    3 / $ 18,310
    --------
At 133%, depending on the state in question, you are no longer eligible for medicaid. so once a family's income reaches $24,352 / year (gross), Medicaid is no longer a sure thing. That's only $2,029 / month. To feed, clothe, house, etc. a family of three.
You need to get off your own high horse and realize there are a lot of people that do not have the luxury of paying cash for a CT - scan. Especially when you consider that the cash cost of a CT scan roughly averages about $900.

So your cash CT-scan which you so arrogantly assume anyone can pay for would take half of a family's monthly income. Oh, and that's not include paying the doctor, taking time off from work (because when you are that poor, you probably don't get sick time). All in all, paying for a simple doctor's visit and a diagnostic test with cash could take up most of a family's monthly income.

Congratulations, you've just made a family homeless!
