First off, you sound like and arrogant know-it-all prick. I'm not trying to be insulting, but that's how you are coming across. Second, the bottom of his chart, which does seem to be fairly accurate states
Chart by Randall Munroe, with help from Ellen, Senior Reactor Operator at the Reed Research Reactor, who suggested the idea and provided a lot of the sources. I'm sure I've added in lots of mistakes; ITS FOR GENERAL EDUCATION ONLY. If you're basing radiation safety procedures on an internet PNG image and things go wrong, you have no one to blame but yourself./block
They are the only country in the world to have nuclear weapons used against them. It only stands to reason they would freak out about radiation.
But you know that's just the obvious answer. Really, they are waiting for Godzilla to show up and level Tokyo.
Hell no, we shouldn't get rid of the Electoral College. This isn't a single giant state. This is a union of 50 separate states, which is why its called the United States. If you want your state to allocate its votes toward the presidential election differently, then you can get your state to do so. Change the law in your state to apportion its alotted Electoral votes according to the Congressional District Method if you so choose. But you don't get to determine how my state does its business.
Because Mitt Romney has invested a lot of money into voting machines. And he would feel awful if miscalibration were to accidentally elect him president. Thats why the options haven't been put far enough apart to prevent mistakes.
Over which acronym based ui is the "best" one. I don't really work on linux at all. So a quick question. I would want an intuitive interface with some eye candy that I could hand over to my retired 60 year old mother-in-law to get her off windows xp. What desktop is the best for migrating a non-tech savvy windows user like her?

Because that's the UI you should be promoting for general desktop use. I don't even care if its technically the best one.
It isn't about whether everyone has exactly the same amount of money. The amount of imbalance though can be unhealthy. Consider a rose. Roses grow best in an acidic soil. The optimum pH is between 6.0 and 6.5. If I just heard "roses need acidic soil" and started pouring concentrated hydrocloric acid on the base of the rose bush, it would die.
Likewise, a certain amount of financial equality is good. Entrepreneurs and business owners can end up with quite a lot of money providing goods and services to the world. Individuals can inherit wealth and live on the interest its investment brings in. There is nothing at all wrong with this. However, when things go to an extreme they can have extreme consequences. Just like the rose bush, you need to keep things in balance in order for the economy to be healthy.
If you try to institute a soviet/communist style control and equalize everything, you crush a lot of the incentive to achieve in an honest way. The incentive to achieve through corrupt practices will flourish, however. I use Russia/USSR as an example. If you willfully go the other way and allow the few to obtain and control the vast majority of the wealth, you eventually end up with a lot of dead wealthy people and a river of blood in the streets. I can also use Russia/USSR as an example of this as well. Also France.
I'd kind of like to keep the rose bush alive and healthy without having to feed its roots with blood.
or alternatively: Guy Hingston thinks of the children while in the shower.
which I shall now start searching for.

No reserve them for those enterprising individuals that have managed to obtain sufficient blackmail material of the head of the office of admissions.
Try the US Tax Code.
This was an accidental Onion reprint or something. The world is too strange sometimes.

The most "furry" way to stuff a turkey is certainly unnatural, but i don't think you were meaning it that way.

A libertarian is fine with you smoking pot next to your same sex spouse.
