    It's easy, it's in the freakin' name: the right to make a copy.

    A fixed number of years after publishing, giving time authors to earn money for their work, we are legally allowed to make copies

    Copyright does not mean the right for you to make copies. You had it right up to that. We have no information about the book or how long it's been since publication.

    That would be awesome if you own a hoop jumping company. But I've found that companies will more often value people that can dispose of hoops (at least the ones not mandated by government or legal requirements).

    The scenario that HornWumpus posed is plausible. I don't know that any of us have enough info to say definitively.

    However, I have a concern for the truck driver in any event. This is not a typical fender-bender. It's a political situation. The police work for the city. The city approved the shuttle. There's a corporation running that shuttle. And there's a truck driver.

    Which one do think is going to be on the losing end of this?
