    I produce and proof read quite a lot of technical documentation. The length of time is takes an application to start is nearly meaningless. I'll do that once in an 8-12 hour stint of work.

    Metrics along the line of "repaginate a 2000 page document after increasing the generic font size by 1 point including custom headers and footers" would give a better idea of performance loss or gain against Micrsoft's offerings.

    Hyperthreading is a neat hack, nothing more. It seems designed exclusively to fool non-techies into thinking that they have a 2 or 4 way system when in fact they have half the number of actual processors, and additional really crippled ones.

    That combined with the price means my last purchase was a pair of dual opteron workstations.

    The english plural of 'virus' is 'viruses'. Even if you were speaking Latin (which you're not) then the plural of 'vir' ('man') is 'viri', and not 'virii'.
