The Seattle Times had an article online about the recent meteor which exploded 26 miles up, about 20 miles north of Seattle. The story has links to very impressive security-cam footage of the flash, caught on camera at Harborview Hospital, downtown Seattle. I submitted this as a Slashdot story, but it was rejected. Why? Who knows, maybe they don't like me. I don't have the URL for that article, but if you'd like to see the Real format videos of the flash caught on the Harborview security cams, go to www.seattletimes.com and do a search. I believe there's a free registration required for their older stories. It impressive considering how far Harborview is from where the meteor blew up (just north of Snohomish, which is just north of Seattle).
Who says every po-dunk fruitstand in the nation is required by law to have choice in regards to radio stations? If they don't like it, they can move to a larger market, or watch tv, or go boink their sister.
Really... Radio stations are businesses. Why can't they charge whatever they want to play songs? Where is it written in the Constitution that all songs must be given equal time on the radio? Really, why is Payola even an issue?
Who gives a flying fig whether they're paid to play a Christina Aguillera song 2000 times a day? Are radio stations public utilities that are being abused by Greedy Corporate Bastards(TM)???? NO. They're private businesses. Why can't they do what they want? This is idiocy.
Having lived in Portland, I can say with authority that it's a toilet. It really sucks, I'm not kidding. The only reason we lived there was for my wife to attend a specialty school.
After my passport and birth certificate were stolen from my mailbox there, someone tried to use my passport as ID at a bank to cash a phony check. He fled, but left my passport there, so the cops came and had me go down to the bank to confirm that it wasn't really me who was trying to cash the bad check. The cop who took me down there said that he'd been a cop in various places, including Chicago, St. Louis, etc., and he swore that he'd never seen more white trash than in Portland.
Ironically... the perp used my identity to register a vehicle, so I received the title to a truck in the mail one day! Heh, I still have that. They also got a drivers license under my name, but was I allowed to see the picture of this person? HELL NO. Talk about protecting criminals and victimizing innocent people!
License plates are a means of identifying your vehicle while it uses public roads, highways, etc. Nobody ever said you had a right to total anonymity, especially while driving a vehicle on public roads. Get over it!
A Dual Celeron? Isn't that kind of like a Stretch Pinto Limo? Although, I agree. If I found myself suddenly OS-less, I wouldn't shell out $200 or whatever the latest Windows is these days.
Really, isn't there something slightly immoral, possibly illegal about posting such security info for the world to see? Sure, it's dumb of them. But I think it shows a lack of editorial integrity to post such here.
Anyway, you should do what I do... save all the computer goofing around for work. It sounds like your fellow players are there already, and probably a nice LAN. Just blow a good 5 hours or so a day playing games, and put in a few hours of work. You'll get your gaming taken care of, and it'll be totally guilt-free, as you won't be taking time from the SO. Unless your SO happens to be your boss, of course.
This would be a great use for those little LED lights that emit infra-red. I just did a quick look at thinkgeek... the Photon 3 light used to be available in infra-red (as opposed to a regular color), but it doesn't appear to be available any more. Maybe ebay has some.
But this type of story on Slashdot makes me wonder... One minute Microsoft is the biggest, evilest monster that ever was, the next, everyone's a fanboy for the Xbox. What's up with that?
A new study shows that any female between puberty and menopause and under 150 lbs is a decent boink.
Which one you should choose depends on your needs and etc.
Really... Using IE and downloading and installing all sorts of crap is how spyware gets on a computer. These jackass users need to realize that they're not the victim, they're a willing participant. And they should be slapped too.
This was because Microsoft operating systems, last time I checked, have "hide extensions of know file types" enabled by default. So, porno.jpg, which would normally show up as just porno, now appears as porno.jpg (.vbs extension hidden now), which doesn't raise any flags with joe-jackass-end-user. This didn't actually delete files. I'm waiting for an all-out, delete-not-recycle-office-files type thing.
I wonder the same thing. It's probably only a matter of time before one is written that deletes files. Just think, if one scanned a drive and deleted.doc,.mdb,.xls,.ppt,.zip files. Just imagine how bonkers the suits would go.
That's fine and dandy, but in the real world, where people work, there are thousands of networked apps that run on Windows and Windows only. As the vast majority of customers/users use Windows, there is very little incentive for software vendors to port their apps to Linux.
WTF if Preditor? Is that short for Previous Editor?

Anyway... I wish him luck, but pity him too.

Sure, but still, why broadcast to the world the username/password? Is it for the neener-neener-I-got-your-password pleasure?

Thanks, I'll be here all week. Be sure to tip your waitress.
I'm pretty sure those options are available in both the win32 and Linux versions.
Opera's URL is http://www.opera.com, FYI.
Other then the two obvious solutions ...
Please, it should be "than" here, not "then."

They add Muppets, and it all goes to hell.
Sorry for the spoiler.
I KNEW Clay Aiken was a Trekkie!!!!!!
That would explain his apparent asexuality and lack of biceps.

It was a few hours ago I read this article, but here's an idea:
Open and close the extra pinholes to send morse-code message to the alternate universe. See if you get a reply.
Yes, I saw Adam Arkin, and thought, what the hell is he doing playing in a lab?

Maryhill overlooks the Columbia River, but is not in Goldendale. It's a bit to the west.
A means of identifying a vehicle while it's out and about in public. Why is this so hard to understand?
