Star Wars was labelled a "Space Fantasy". So was another prominent film. Domestic robots performing tasks that we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on, interstellar transportation, Advanced weaponrey that can only be guessed at? Sounds like Sci-Fi to me. The Force and the mythology surrounding Star Wars can be labelled as 'Fantasy' but as a whole, it's Sci-Fi.

Retinal surgery is dangerous, but not much more than any other invasive procudures. It's very delicate work. So delicate that the first surgeon to attempt it practised on egg yolks. Once he successfully could keep a yolk intact did he deem the procedure possible.

I too am quite blind in one eye due to diabetic retinopathy. Two surgeries in 4 weeks left me with a retina that's effectively swiss chees. Often I wear an eye patch to avoid headaches caused by my brain trying to rectify the vaseline covered circus mirror vision that remains in my bad eye.
Further damage is avoided by reducing the chance of hemmorage in the eye and the susequent scar tissue which tore the retina before.
This article mentions the brain compensating for the new voltages the implant provides. Given that my good eye is usually 20/20, I hope subjects like myself are used in this study.
This distance is immense and would, if stationary, use the solar ecliptic as a reference. Even further.
A 100+ redundant system would be cheap over a self fixing system. Let's go! A B.F.A.A (Big Fuckin' Ass Array) would solve many philosophical questions. Artificial light on a far away planet? Bring it on!!!

Since most/. articles come a day to a week after the news is broken, this is not really the best excuse. An offer to colo sites for a week would work well for all involved.
I'm not bashing here, just suggesting a viable option!!

We could look at this as a weakness for exploitation, but by examining MacAffee's pattern files, the fingerprint of the FBI's exploit could be guessed at, if not revealed.
What are they ignoring? Obviously the pattern files are scoured despite "Magic Lantern", but when you purposely ignore something, it tends to stand out.
The article concerned itself with Id (and TNT) releases/ports.
That said, my favorite port was ASCII DOOM and the Unix admin tool (http://www.cs.unm.edu/~dlchao/flake/doom/)!
This movie is likely going to be the first successfully designed DVD movie. The theatrical release, by nature, is assured success from the start which allows for ample planning to release a vastly expanded version on DVD.
Not just deleted scenes, but fully composed add-ons that needed to be deleted to bring the film within a reasonable length for theater goers.
I hope to see this used more. Many adaptations fail due to the 2-2.5 hour length the average movie goers will endure at a cinema. DVD and what ever replaces it allow directoers to utilize their immediate resources to film full adaptations/stories that can have all the backstory added later to fully realize their vision of the story.
I admit, I have no concrete knowledge on HP, but given the trim and the quality that Columbas (surprisingly) pulled off here, I'm confident the DVD will be excellent.
I brought in my mighty Nerf gattling gun one friday and had security on my sorry ass as the mother sounds like a machine gun! Anyone have a silencer for these?
My job's devolved to routine support on the "tough cases" (ie, those which either involve assholes or require my knowledge of the 500+ person tech infrastructure). I resolved to not work for my boss but to simply punch the clock and pursue those elements of the job that give me personal satisfaction. I will work strongly for my department as I have respect for our Director that extends beyond the prerequisite respect that profesionalism dictates.
Still, it sucks sometimes and the "high" is gone.
I'm no longer loving and eager to go to work. For the first time in my life (I'm 37) I look forward to the end of the day most of the time.
A simple crosshairs on a refilled 409 bottle handles the cat.
But for the birds? Air cannon! I got to whistling the same lame calls a bird made every morning at 5am and suffering sleep exhaustion, built a simple air cannon to blast the lowest bass I could muster at him, and any other prick birds loitering on that tree! Works great on crows too (well, they're birds too).
I live in St Paul and saw footage of these 'bots last year.
They showed one being shot through a window and the showed it roaming remotely through the room. Properly "armed", these can provide a significant aid in fires. Equipped with sub 300 degree IRs, they can locate trapped victims in a variety of disaster scenarios.
I watched it and the repeated replays.
My TA in philosophy chided me for being late to class that day. "The Space Shuttle f*ckin' blew up, Jackass!". I stilled the class and got an A.
It was the largest setback NASA ever had. The press effectively banned manned spaceflight as a result.
Because this is a mirror/optical effect, light (and subsequently shadow) will appear on the actual object.
A simple analogy is using a periscope behind a wall. If i aim flashlght at the portion of the periscope I can see, it will also appear to you to be directly in front of you, rather than a foot or two up.
Now I know who to sue for monetery damages and who'll be the primary liticant on the class action lawsuit!
It's a joke....unfortuneatly!
