The stories on Slashdot are more often than not submitted by its users. Granted, most users are citizens of your God worshipping union of states - but some of us do live in countries where biology teachers actually teach biology rather than scripture.
IMO the moderators could spend a few extra calories making sure the articles are written from a more neutral perspective. Is that too much to ask?
Thing is, reality is not a movie. Rarely do the well-intentioned, rag-tag band of rebels overthrow the evil world government and usher in a new era of freedom and prosperity.
You're right, but it does happen every now and then...
You know very well that government budgets are, in part, controlled by public opinion. There's a reason police pose for the press when they make a bust/solve a crime. Stop being a douche.
Try running Civ 4 with the Beyond the Sword expansion pack and a combination of the Giant Earth mod and 50 civ mod. Makes the game as it really should be, but save games take 4-5 megabyte and frequently crashes from a lack of memory.
Have a look www.civfanatics.com...
That was a strangely non-evil thing for Microsoft to do. My world is shifting.
Not so strange, it's just step 3 in their "How to fix our public image and steal back clients from Google" strategy.
1. Announce we love Open Source.
2. Help with some Linux bug fixes.
3. Fight some anti democracy thingy in Russia or China.
4. Get massive press coverage from 1, 2 and 3.
5. ???
6. Profit
Some scholars argue that the next full game to the series will not be Half-Life 3, as Valve considers Episodes 1, 2 and the upcoming Episode 3 to be "Half Life 3".
Civ 5 should be (Civ 4 + Beyond the Sword expansion pack + Giant Earth mod + 50 Civ mod). Pluss a lot more political tools like cross-civ organizations (UN, WTO etc) and unions (US, EU etc), sanctions, occupation, puppet leaders. Also in warfare there should be a tactical screen for coordinating units from different allied civs. It also wouldn't hurt if Firaxis teamed up with Monte Cristo and combined Civ and Cities XL into one epic world simulation.
See here for more details on the above mentioned mods.
Where is it written that innocent television broadcasters need to put their lives on the line to adhere to your ideals?
"Innocent"? The very reason South Park has become successful is because of its controversial and offensive nature. By censoring the show they're betraying their audience.

Is that supposed to be a variable or an attempt at creating a Slashdot equivalent of a Twitter hashtag?

There aren't hovercars but we're almost living in the future.
We're actually not that far away when it comes to hovercars either: DARPA's flying Humvee
Why does a police force need a PR department?

I was going to rant on about a child's vocal activity not being dependent on language, but then I didn't.
I've tried this, but it wasn't all that. Kinda fun tho.

Virgin Galactic will save us... I... I know they will. God, I hope they will...
Probably because most "developers" are clueless script kiddies to begin with.
