yes i have the two books and the html files. but their documentation is a little cryptic and hard to follow. im hoping for a book that is more comprehensive and eysier to follow. say like with totorials on that really tell you how to use the python interface and ways to make explosions look more real. i know that maya made allot of money off of their documentation. so why not blender.
Ive been using blender for about 6 months now. i started using it when my boss needed some 3d animations for his lectures., as a rule i allways try to use opensource software before i go out and buy stuff. i have made several animations in blender and i love it. the I is a little hard to get use too. but Ive done just about everything i need to do in it. the only qualm i have about it is documentation. i know there is Elysium but sometimes you just want a good user manual with nice tutorials on how to do everything. i think I'm going to donate to blender. 1 ) because i use it allot 2) because i don't thing i can contribute with code 3) i love the program. also i made an animation of a carrier engagement and another 3d artist made one with lightwave, and in many aspects my version was better than his. so i think that blender can compete with the mainstream,

I hate star trek Ive never played D&D I stay away from video games so does that mean I'm not a nerd. I allways thought that being a geek meant that you were really jazzed about technology, that you believed in the future of technowlogy and wanted to play a part in its future. to me a geek or a nerd is someone who cares more about performance that looks. when i call myself a geek or a nerd. most people think I'm crazy, but then they see me spending at least 20 hours a week learning new technology or experimenting with new OSes or applications. thats what a geek is to me, so i think that the author of this article is seriously missinformed. and well i didn't read anything other than the headline.
I really think that apple had the right idea. i tunes is a great service and an open ended system. some people may clamore about the quality but i cant tell the difference between an aac and a CD, good solutions are often like that they leverage what works, and modify what doesn't. My experience with p2p has been horrible. almost every song Ive downloaded hasn't worked that good and i eventually just ended up buying the CD or buying the aac file. the purpose of p2p is to share music but i think that apple does it better by an order of magnitude. if the ***AA groups are OK with the aac format than i think that apple should embrace its open source initiative and publish the aac format. so that any company or OS that wants to use it can. monopoly is not a good thing, so i don't want apple to be my only choice. in the end xerox made a tone of money licensing it technowlogy and practices. so maybe thats what apple should do.
I liked the premise and the physics in space was great. i thought the muting of the sound in space was a good compromise. they had the old and the new cylons and the feel of the series was more modern. in some ways it reminded me of SAAB, and i loved that episode. personally i thought it was slow in some points and didn't go into enough detail in other points, but then again, i think that the perfect episode would be,
1) violence
2) more violence
3) sex
4) sex and violence
5) space fighting
6) sex in space
7) violence sex and space fighting at the same time
8) repeat 1
but then again i like my TV shows to require as little thought as possible
