    Maybe borderline slashvertisement...

    It's one of the few mmos with native linux support, meaning there's a fair few nerds in the playerbase, so they generally send news items to known geek hangouts, slashdot included .

    I'd say it's "news for nerds", it may not be "stuff that matters" but these days I could say that about at least a handful of front page items here on any given day :-)

    DISCLAIMER: I've been a regular there for the last 2.5 years, originally saw it it mentioned in a Wing Commander newsgroup...

    Jail sentences and multi billion dollar fines would certainly be in order, and that would probably make the next batch of company brass think twice before cutting corners. For about 6 months until the banks, hedge funds, investment firms et.c who really run things replace them with others more likely to get them the ridiculous profits they've come to expect.

    Until these people/institutions start incurring real,substantial losses because of situations like this nothing will change long-term.

    Elected officials are a little concerned about making such an appearance, because the news media is going to go after them and bring it out come election time. This pretty much means that letting someone like this out ends the career of some politician, somewhere.

    ....which, presumably, is part of the reason that prosecutors and judges aren't elected officials in most countries I know off
