Fifth post, Dr. B? Used to be that you were reliably #1. Looks like you're slowing down, perhaps you need to take a break from posting online to sort out your sublaxations to get back to your peak.
Every now and then I'll decide that I need to work harder to get ahead, so I'll completely swear off the internet for a day. By 11 am I'll have noticed that I've just been staring at the diagram without doing anything for 30 minutes. Something to break up the monotony is very important.
I saw the wall of text and thought it must be another racist troll, but given the rating I decided to read it anyway, and I'm glad I did, that was a very good post.
Well, ideally we'd look at every possible use we could find for the money and spend it on the best one, but unfortunately for us we don't have a "superhuman dictator" who can see the future to work out where the best payoff is. We've just got to rely on what we know about what's happened in the past and go from there.
Yes, but there's also a chance that 1 goes way down, while 99 go slightly up. With no other information we'd have to conclude that there is an equal chance of either situation occurring, thus there would indeed be a 50% chance of beating the market with your random 10 stocks.
If you say that religious writings must be questioned because they have been created by humans, then questioning scientific studies must be allowed just as much, because they are human creations as well that can be influenced by other factors than merely wanting to find 'the truth'. Something they just want to find a very specific truth. One must remain wary of that.
Yeah, that's kinda the point of science. For instance, I just read an article about the age of the moon, where some scientists analysed some moon rocks and now think that the Moon is younger than was previously thought.
All he said was that many people treat science with the same dogmatic fervour others treat their deities with. And on that count, he's absolutely right.
Many people use religion as an excuse to kill other people. Did you have a point there?
Even better, ride your bike to the farm and just eat it right there! Make sure you can ride fast enough to get away from the angry farmer when you're done though...
When we do let you know that they've done that, you'll complain that it's old news and that they were driving on expressways ages ago and this is just a small step in the technology and doesn't warrant a/. article.
That's actually mentioned in the fine article. They have been approached by fingerprint specialists, but this stuff is on a scale way smaller than you'd need for fingerprints.
He's referring to the 'living in a remote cabin in Wisconsin' aspect of Kaczynski's personality, rather than the mail-bombing part. Kaczynski being one of the examples often trotted out in the violent video games argument.

But if you dropped a generalist and a specialist in some soil other than what the specialist does best, then it's the generalist that'll be getting choked out. Generalists certainly have their place.

Yeah, it's pretty shitty.
If he's not allowed to get risky medical procedures while he's president, that means he'd better get all of his problems cleared up now, doesn't it?

Ooh, me too! I'll forward a link to both our bosses so we can both get our pay raises!

I have a licence to drive a car, but I don't come on forums telling people that I'm a "driver".
I laugh at boobs.

Everyone deserves respect
No they don't. You have to earn respect.
While I agree with most of your post, about "The Game" all I can do is link to xkcd: http://xkcd.com/800/
As a better reference I'd recommend the "On Being a Man" series by David D'Angelo, which is roughly the same idea, but less sleazy.
I think you'll find that the universe pretty much covers everything.
