Because the average Slashdotter will happily boycott Adobe PDF files while listening to the latest CD and planning to go see LOTR or Matrix 3 this weekend.
BSG was originally concieved as "Adam's Ark", Larson's idea for a wagon train in space
That's funny, Rodenberry pitched Star Trek to the Desilu TV execs as "Wagon Train to the Stars". He's also been recorded as calling it "Horatio Hornblower in Space". Skeptics: You can look this up in "The Making of Star Trek"
BzBoyz is definitely a dodgy operation. Avoid them.
I've have been buying from Krex since the mid 90s when they still took most orders by phone. I've never had a problem with them. They are a very good vendor.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I don't see that. I typed several sentences into Notepad. Then I changed the shape of the window and the words wrapped properly. I then copied text into new, differently shaped notepad and the words wrapped properly again. Just for giggles, I copied and pasted directly into MS Word. The sentences wrapped in the proper places once again. I don't see what you mean.
There was also talk of making a version that could sync to the Springboard slot on a Handspring Visor. But before it came off the drawing board, the market turned to CF Cards slots, etc. Would've been cool to have though -- a "shuttlecraft" for my Visor....
MY jaw dropped open and I yelled, "Holy crap!" when I started Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on my PS2 for the first time and saw the "Commodore 64 Load screen" that starts the intro. It was beautiful -- and completely unexpected.
Instead of going to the hig priced places, try an alternative.... The few times a year that I actually feel the need to buy CDs, I tend to go to places like Newbury Comics (in the northeast US) that have used CDs. That way I can get a nearly new CD for 5-10 bucks. Yes, I might not get the newest release right away, but usually within a couple of weeks the new stuff starts showing up.
The real bag guys in this whole thing are the ones with all the money in Redmond. It's their crap that's broken by design.
What a moronic statement - spoken like a true 14 year old.. If someone is driving a Corvette at 120 mph in downtown NYC and kills a pedestrian, is it Chevy's fault for making a car that goes that fast? Of course not. Granted MS could do a better job of securing their OS's. But just because you CAN write a virus doesn't mean you SHOULD. There's some personal responsibility that we all need to take.
In most suburban and rural areas in the US, mail delivery is done by vehicle, NOT on foot. So having the mailbox on a house would require the postman to get out of his vehicle -- which for the sake of speed, is exactly what the USPS is trying to avoid.
For the sake of those that need to dress slightly above "T-shirt", I'd like to see the Scott Lewallen design on a polo/golf shirt. Perhaps with the main (color) logo on the left side chest and the smaller black/white logo on the right sleeve.
I had one of the Casio Touch-screen Calculator watches. It worked for several years -- was great for figuring out tips, etc. But, much like I expect with this Palm watch, it only took a couple of years for the screen to get scratched. Accidentally "pushing" buttons on the watch was a non-issue -- it didn't rely on pressure, but on the conductivity of your finger. You couldn't use a pen, etc to press buttons. The Palmwatch, I expect WILL be pressure sensitive like a regular PDA.
I still have the watch -- I'd love to wear it again as a conversation piece, but I don't know what type of battery it took. Anyone know? (The manual is long gone.)
Make sure that the Staff -- you and the other people who will be "in charge" -- are easily identifiable. Since it will be a somewhat darkened room, perhaps florescent green t-shirts/polos, or something along those lines....
They've been saying that for ages. I remember news reports and even an article in TIME or Newsweek during my high school days ('79-83) saying that kids who hung out in Arcades had better eye-hand coordination, faster reflexes, etc. Whether it's true or not is tough to say -- I tend to believe it is, and the CCN article is more evidence -- but the anti-computer game groups never will believe that gaming activity is beneficial.

Several companies make electro-static speakers similar to the Stax design. Notable among them would be Martin-Logan or Magaplanar.
And yes, you're right -- once you've listened extensively to electro-static speakers, nothing else seems to measure up.

And that square foot record cover was much better for sifting the seeds out of weed. (and double albums were better still...)
But then only the older slashdotters have any idea I'm talking about.....

My guess is it'll never happen though....
I can hear it now:

Luke: "Oh -- not more of those F'n Fighters!"
Hey, Thanks! I'll give it a try!

The other cool thing was the those drives were 48x continuous,(iirc) whereas a standard 48x CD read speed was a "burst" speed.

Imagine a beowulf cluster of first posts?
Come on now! You expect us to believe that you managed to get her shirt off before she figured out that you're a Slashdot geek?
