I had to read a lot of books in Dutch 'high school', both for Dutch and English. Most famous Dutch literature I read was written by authors who had a bad childhood and wanted the rest of Holland to know about it (there are quite a lot of those). O, how terribly were they treated by their fathers! And they were all so different from anybody else! How were they suffocated by their religion! Boring, boring boring. Luckily there are more countries in the world, where people DO know how to write a compelling story. I liked English literature a lot more than Dutch literature (although there are some good Dutch writers). After High School I never read another Dutch author again (well, I tried once - big mistake). Recently I discovered Charles Dickens. Now I'm interested in 19th century English literature. I have a lot to read! Yummy!
Dragonball Z is one of the worst children's television programs I ever saw. Every time I zap past that program I see fighting or very angry looking characters. I have never seen someone smile in that program. I don't believe fora minute that this doesn't have influence on the kids that watch this show. If I had kids I wouldn't allow them to see this.
I didn't learn anything from the article. Something went wrong and now they have to delay a test. Well, cool! What signal? What instrument? Looks like a politician wrote this article.
Yeah. Same thing with the Living with Dinosaurs thing (or what's it called): The mighty T-rex goes hunting. It walks trough the forest until it spots a flock of small fast-running animals. It opens its mouth, raises its head and ROAARRRSSS!!!! its lungs out, before jumping between the edible animals. No wonder T-rex was often a scavenger.
Come on, if playing videogames doesn't count then watching TV doesn't count eighter. I mean of course you use a computer but not for the sake of using a computer, if you know what I mean. In any case, my hobbies are playing adventure games, reading (the newspaper or books (mostly fantasy although I'm trying to find other interesting genres)) and watching the telly if I'm too lazy to do anything else. O and working was also sort of a hobby for me. Unfortunately I'm jobless at the moment. Dear me, I almost forgot baking bread and watching my goldfish swim happily in it's tank!
I am not a programmer but this seems to me a very interesting book for people who want to have a detailed yet general (hope you understand what I mean) idea of what's going on inside their computers as they are hammering their keyboards. Seriously, popular books on computer programming usually learn you how to use a certain programming language and not the concepts behind writing a computer program so this is a must-read for all people that want to learn to program computers.
I'd like a good remake of Boulderdash on my PC. I've played some Boulderdash-like games but it's very hard to get the look and feel of the original C' 64 game. I like that game a lot.
I'm confused. Open source failures? That sounds like a contradictio in termina (or however you want to spell that)... Now excuse me, gotta go see my shrink.
You're right of course. But what I meant was that people who say that "everybody is so asleep in this world" and "The more you deal with people, the more you hate people" are mentally unhealthy in my opinion. I don't mean they're bad people, but apparently they mistrust everyone they don't know. That is not normal behaviour.

pervert right off the bat." "
This man needs help. If you have such a distorted view of the people around you something is very wrong with you. It's a miracle that he is still married.

I agree with you totally except on the hardware part. Have you ever tried to run OpenOffice on a 90 MHz Pentium? It's slow even on my 800 MHz Athlon but for the rest it works fine!
Well I don't know, it's the same thing music companies do to their artists. The only difference is that MS does it to itself while the music companies do it to other people. Now tell me which company is smarter:-)
This reminds me of that book by Terry Pratchett (The Fifth Elephant) in which the original sacret Scone of Stone on which the new dwarf kings are crowned turned out to be made of chalk with a thin layer of paint to make it look like stone.
Security is always a concern regardless of the OS in question. And I agree with you on the default install thing, but I hope you realize that your IT folks are paid to make a non-default optimal solution to your specific needs;-)

He's not alone in this. J.V. Jones does this in her 'ice series'.
And finally the Linux community realizes that the SCO case is to be taken seriously...
Making money doesn't have to make anyone unhappy. Problems arise when corporations or people become greedy.

A week has 7 days. That's weird! I guess it has something to do with astronomy.
Hey thanks, I'll look into it. It's always good to get reading suggestions!

It's easy. Just make a tank as high as the Eiffel tower. You can put the fish in and you don't have to pressurize it.
Well I don't know. I think I'll keep on bonking sheep. They are easier to hold on to :-)

The only thing left to do now is put live herrings in the pool so the penguins can increase their fishing skills.

Let's start a 'the shortest blurp possible' contest.

Two words: Stupid morons.
Hehe, now I feel better.

Mozilla can also do this. I tried it just a few minutes ago; it really makes a big difference! Don't forget to change the colors of the links too.
